190. Real Love

It's me again God,

I praise You for the wonderful God that You are! Thank You for Your love that never fails and Your incredible grace. You pour out Your mercy to me every day and keep all Your promises. Even in times that are difficult, You are there:

"I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning."
‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:20-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Thank You that I can be sure You love me because love is so fleeting in this world! People let us down and hurt us but I can be sure that You will never leave me or forsake me! You faithfully go on loving because that is who You are! Your love was there right at the beginning when the world was created and You just kept on loving Your people throughout time, wanting them to draw close to You.

Sin has caused such a problem in the wonderful world You made. Over the years, things have been so far from how You originally planned life to be:

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank You that You just wanted to pour Your love out on people and be in relationship with them, even though sin made that very hard! Thank You so much for sending Jesus to be the One who would change everything.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your Word says that You are at work in all of our lives:

"so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;"
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Thank You that because of Your deep love and desire to make a way for us to be close to You, You sent Your own Son into the world —You made the first move:

"This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins."
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Thank You Jesus for being the way we could have a renewed relationship with our Father:

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank You Jesus for coming into the world as a baby but being prepared to be Immanuel —'God with us', all the way to the Cross where You took my sins upon You:

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit."
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I rejoice this Christmas as I remember the reason that You came —to bring me to the Father. Now I have the privilege of coming into the Father's presence every day in prayer.  Thank You Jesus that Your righteousness is now mine!

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."
‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:4-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I am so blessed! Jesus You have done it all! Thank You that even now, You are waiting to come into the lives of many who are finding out about You this Christmas because it's not enough to just believe that You came into the world. There You are, standing at the door of so many people's hearts:

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord I pray that many will open the door to You today and invite You into their hearts and life. Help me to be ready to guide them as they receive You as their Lord and Saviour:

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—"
‭‭John‬ ‭1:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank You Father that when we believe in Jesus and receive Him, we become Your children! Thank You that we don't have to be anywhere special to begin a personal relationship with You. Right where we are, we can say something like this:

'Dear God, I know that my sin has separated me from You. Thank You for sending Your Son to die in my place. I now trust Jesus to forgive my sins. I invite Him into my life as my Saviour and Lord. Thank You for receiving me into Your eternal family.'

May many come into Your family today,
