It's me again God,
Thank You Lord for loving me and for calling me to be Your own! Thank You that the relationship I have with You is ongoing and You speak to me so clearly through Your Word. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit so I can understand what You are saying to me.
Your Word is so consistent in the message it brings to me even though the various books were written hundreds of years apart! It's so amazing how Your Word is able to guide me so I can live the life You have planned for me. The prophet Micah spoke these words to Your people Israel, regarding the way they were to live:
"He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you Except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion), And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]?"
MICAH 6:8 AMP
Your message of love comes through clearly here, along with humility. Lord these are things that demonstrate to the world that I belong to You as is seen in the book of John as he recorded Jesus' words on this important topic of love:
""A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.""
John 13:34-35 NIV
I love the way Paul expands on this theme by referring to these attributes as clothes I must put on:
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
Colossians 3:12-14 NIV
If I am clothed in these things, I am completely covered and ready for all situations. I am even ready to forgive others, just as You have forgiven me. It's clear to see that love is the most important thing which I must put on!
Lord, sometimes it seems so hard to love others! My own efforts will fail but when I rely on Your Holy Spirit living in me, I can love and it's a very different thing!
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
Lord today I rely totally on Your Spirit in me, in order that I may be the light you need me to be in this world. May others see and experience my clothing of 'compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience' and may my loving words and actions point them to You.
