It's me again God,

Thank You for the wonderful blessing of being able to communicate with You every day Father, to read Your Word and have your Holy Spirit quietly speak to my heart. Thank You Jesus for all that You did during Your time here on earth as You ministered to people and taught them. Thank You for these interesting parables. Please teach me today as I meditate on them:

"He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches." He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough." Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.""
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:31-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

From very small beginnings, like the size of a mustard seed, it seems Your Kingdom, would grow to be very large indeed! This parable is like a prophecy, about how the Gospel message would be spread to the whole world. The church was perhaps pictured growing so large that it would provide refuge for all the world, as we read that 'birds come and perch in its branches'! Each person who comes to know You as their Lord and Saviour, is a part of Your Kingdom. Since they are filled with Your Holy Spirit, fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are produced which cause others to want to know about You, so Your Kingdom grows! It's great to be living two thousand years or so later and to see that this prophecy is being fulfilled but the job of spreading the Good News is not finished yet - I know that I must do my part.

It only takes a small amount of yeast to make bread rise, it's presence changes the bread mix entirely. In the parable, it 'worked all through the dough' and this could refer again to the spread of the Gospel into the world. I am reminded of Your words as You spoke to Your disciples before you returned to heaven:

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It's exciting to be part of this great commission! I have been on the receiving end as I heard the Good News as a child and became a disciple or follower and now I can take part in passing on the message to continue to grow Your Kingdom. Thank You for Your promise to be with me as I do this.
Until all know of Your great love,
Amen.
