It's me again God,

Jesus, Your teaching during Your three years of ministry seemed to cover so many topics! How exciting it must have been to be there, listening as You began to speak each day. As I spend this time with You, I'm picking up on the excitement as I read and wait for Your Word to speak to my heart! What do You have to teach me today?

"Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.' And suppose the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!""
‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:5-13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord, I see from this story that you are waiting for my passionate, persistent prayers.  You want me to be like that audacious person who went to his friend in the middle of the night, knowing that he would be potentially waking the whole household! You want the best for me but You certainly don't really need me to persuade you! My persistence doesn't change You —it changes me! As I keep coming to You in prayer, I am developing a heart and passion for what You want.

Thank You that You invite us to come to You as children asking their parent. You want us to keep on asking, seeking and knocking. You reassure us that just as a father would not fulfil a child's request with something that is evil, so too, You only give us what is good for us. Your gifts are better than what we ask for in the beginning!

Here I am so touched as I remember again how You are just waiting to pour out the best gift of all on Your children —Your Holy Spirit! I need You Holy Spirit in order to do all the things that You would have me do. My own insights and abilities in my own strength are not sufficient for anything I do. I cannot rely on the flesh, for it is weak! We of course receive Your Holy Spirit when we first turn to You in faith and repentance but You want us to ask the Holy Spirit to move into every area of our lives, to take control! My desire is that my life be filled with Your Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) that You would influence all of my thoughts, words and actions.

I receive all Your wonderful gifts with thankfulness,
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
