I blink and it was like time travel as we were back at camp. I jump out and see Rick looking worried.

I sigh and enter the RV where Jim is laying. Rick and Lori follow.

"Hey, Jim," I say getting his attention. Rick sits next to me and Lori asks if he wants anything and he replied a water.

Lori nods and left with Carol as Jim sighs. I look at him with a frown, I know he's not going to make it.

"You save a grave for me?" Jim mutters looking at me and Rick.

"Nobody wants that," Rick interjects while shaking his head.

I grab his hand and take his vitals. Far too fast. I sigh and grab a pen from the counter as write on my hand. I'll have to keep track of his progression so if he gets too far, we can get rid of him.

"It's not about what you want. That, uh... that sound you hear, that's God laughing while you make plans." Jim claims as I check the dilation of his eyes, slower than usual but ok. It gets worse as the disease progresses.

" What I want, Jim, if... if God allows, is to get you some help," Rick says solemnly as I hold Jim's hand if only to give him a sense of friendship.

"Jim, about the offer I made you. What do you say? Or at least what's your pain?" I ask as I see his eyes glaze.

He shakes his head but says "Nine" I inhale and take a needle out full of hydromorphone and inject it right under the skin and into a muscle.

You can see the pain fade from his eyes as he starts to ramble. Rick looks at me and I answer that it's mostly the infection but the medicine numbed his pain receptors.

Jim rambles "Watch the mangroves. Their roots will gouge the whole boat. You know that, right? Amy is there swimming. You'll watch the boat, right? You said you would."

I chuckle and nod at him. A day is stretching it, we might make it to the CDC.

"I'll watch the boat. Don't worry." Rick soothes him as he goes along with whatever the man was talking about.

"Okay," Jim mumbles as he drifts asleep.

I sigh and let go of him and drag Rick out of the RV where the girls were going in and state "He needs an iv, we don't have one though. We need someone feeding him water every once and awhile.

I have a notebook that I'm going to record this. I need someone that can take basic vitals. But if we want to have to option to save him we need to make a choice but if it's the CDC we need to leave soon"

Rick nods and walks off after ruffling my hair and telling me to go change. I hum and nod.

I go to Glenn's tent and see that he's not there so I hop in and freshen up and change.

A loose grey tee under my mama's jacket and my boots on, my hair in box braids into pigtails.

When I finish I pack my shit and leave the tent not particularly wanting to deal with Glenn.

Wanna hear a joke? Me, at problems. I fight or pretend they don't exist. Yep, that's me!

I carry my bags to the RV and pull my mini notebook and making a page for Jim and how far along he is. I have other pages of such things I know about them and how they work.
