Jenner stumbles down the hall, leaving the rest of us in stunned silence.
I shake my head and look up to Alec. He shakes his head, bewildered, and start after his friend. I follow suit with my bags on my shoulders.
We didn't even make ten steps before Shane storms past me and slams Alec into the wall.
I gasp and move forward but Daryl barrels forward, trying to pry the man from his drinking buddy.
Shane turns, punches Daryl right in the nose, and immediately slams Alec back to the wall.
Hearing a definite crack when his head slams, I nod to Rick, who holds Daryl back while I grab Shane by his collar and pull.
He stumbles back and his gaze locked on me. He opens his mouth to yell but was swiftly cut off by me slapping him.
I stomp up close to him and hiss "You don't touch him, he is with us and if you don't like it, you'll have to deal with me."
Apparently wanting this more extreme he grabs my arm.
Cold seeps into me as his arm moved to a bruise hidden by my shirt.
I watch out of the corner of my eye as Daryl struggles against Rick but I quickly twist my grasp around his wrist and run under his arm.
Effectively twisting his arm. I push and he grunts in pain.
I let go and stand in front of Alec protectively.
Shane scoffs and storms past us, bumping shoulders with me, hitting a bruise that he formed.
Alec pulls me along down the hall after the group that slowly follow behind Shane after Rick let go of Daryl.
I clench my jaw and allowed myself to be squeezed between the two large men of the group, Daryl, and Alec.
"Hey! Hey, what the hell does that mean?" Shane pulls on Jenner's shoulder who blatantly ignoring him, causing him to call out to the walking away, "Hey man, I'm talking to you. What do you mean it's shutting itself down? How can a building do anything?"
Jenner scoffs and I lean against a computer desk. "You'd be surprised." Lori, clutching her son to her chest, looked to Rick and whispered "Rick?"
Rick, glancing at his wife for a split second before asking Jenner almost desperately "Jenner, what's happening?"
Jenner plops on his chair and sighs as he took a sip of the liquor "The system is dropping all the non-essential uses of power. It's designed to keep the computers running to the last possible second. That started as we approached the half-hour mark."
He rolls his head and gulps from the bottle "Right on schedule."
He looks at the computer, leaving us in tense silence as we looked at one another but looking at the clock it seems that we are running out of time.
I step up and asks, "Who was the last one standing?"
He rolls his head in my direction and mutters "It was the French. They were the last ones to hold out as far as I know."
He sat straighter as blood flooded his face, his voice rising "While our people were bolting out the doors and committing suicide in the hallways, they stayed in the labs until the end! They thought they were close to a solution, a few years ago that is."
He stops and looked at me, I look away and avoid everyone eyes.
Daryl grunts, shifting on his feet "What happened?"
