A few minutes later they come back with Shane and Andrea. I stand on the other another side of the old man as Maggie spreads a map out on the top of the car hood.
Herschel looked at the map, then at the others and asked: "How long has this girl been lost?". Rick looked at me and answered respectively "This'll be day three."
I look at the map and see that it shows terrain and elevations.
I clear my throat, causing the group to look at me and I say what I found adding "Maybe we can finally get this thing search organized. We'll grid the whole area you see,". I pointed at the map and continue "We should start searching in teams."
Herschel looked at me and answers point blank "No you won't. You got shot yesterday and you think you go plunging into the woods? No, plus we have to have a chat about-".
I cut him off with a stern "Nope."
He gave me a look and moved on to Rick "Not you. Not today. You have three units of blood. You wouldn't be hiking for five minutes in this heat before passing out."
He then moved to Shane and ordered: "And your ankle Push it now, you'll be laid up a month, no good to anybody."
Daryl looked at me and raised a brow, I give him a small smile, saying "Guess it's just me and Luce. We're gonna head back to the creek, work my way from there."
Herschel shook his head and apologized "Sorry, son, you won't be taking her, she needs to heal up."
I roll my eyes and shrug at Daryl. Shane was talking about still being useful. But I don't that he can ever be useful in any situation.
I must have skipped some of the conversion as they moved to another, weapons. "They need the gun training we've been promising them."
Shane pressed Rick as Hershel seemed to battle something internally. I shrug and offer "I'm a pretty good shot, Alec is too. I'm willing to help teach and I'm sure Alec is too, but you'll have to bring that up with him."
Shane scoffs but Hershel cut him off with a firm voice "I'd prefer you not carrying guns on my property. We've managed so far without turning this into an armed camp."
I nod in respect but Shane, being Shane, interrupted with his idiocy "All due respect, you get a crowd of those things wandering in here-"
Rick sighS heavily before holding a hand up to Shane, complying to the old man's commands, "Look, we're guests here. This is your property and we will respect that."
Shane sighed but placed his shotgun on the roof of the car along with ricks piece, then it was Andreas urn and she begrudgingly gave it up but when it came to me placing mine down I sigh taking the gun out in my hands and looking at it.
I trace the engraving on the handle before I look up into the old man's worried face. I was going to offer a smile but what he had allowed conspiring in his house halted me.
I straighten myself before looking Hershel in the eye stating firmly "I respect you and your house rules and I wish that I could comply to my fullest potential, but-but I cant. The most I can do is give you the bullets in my clip."
He gives me a look but I hold my hand up to him trying to explain "Look, Sofia lost the of only things that belonged to my mum and now all I have on me is this gun and her ring."
Rick leaned forward and asked "Her ring?"
I look at the car roof and hold up my hand with her ring on my finger. He nods, trying to catch my eye but I look to Hershel stating as I pull my clip, and hand it to him "That is my compromise, and if you don't like it then I don't know what to tell you."
