chapter thirteen; real life (leanna pov)
I knock on the door, hoping that this was the right place.
"Are you kidding me? Let me text my fiancé!"
Clearly it was.
"I would drop your attitude before you get in trouble."
The door flies open, and Reece has a smile on his face.
"What are you doing here?"
"I flew in."
"Wait, you were just texting me yesterday and you were on a flight to Spain."
"I told you the wrong place. I was on the plane all night."
"Leanna!" He shakes his head. "You've got to be exhausted. It's only ten in the morning!"
"It's worth it."
His smile gets even bigger, and he wraps his arms around me, smothering my face in kisses in the process.
"Do the boys know you're here?"
"No. It's only Joe and Olivia."
"Then let's go say hi!"
I roll my eyes as he grabs my hand and begins to pull me to the stage.
"Reece, what took you so- Leanna!"
Blake and George run towards me, throwing me into a hug.
"Why are you here?"
"I wanted to say hi."
"So you flew fifteen hours to LA?"
"Yes?"
"What's up? You never want to-"
"It's nothing, I just missed you guys so I figured I could fly out and watch you guys. Emily was talking about meeting up sometime anyways."
Reece nods. "You haven't seen Emily in how long?"
"Since my last trip to LA before everything happened."
"That was over a year ago before everything happened."
"I'm well aware."
I brush my hand over my shirt where my scar is underneath.
"You shouldn't be worried about the scar." Reece says quietly.
I look over him. "But-"
"We all have scars."
My head drops and I stare at the ground, unsure of what to say.
Or how to react.
He's said this to me multiple times. I stopped wearing crop tops or anything that shows a little bit of my stomach because I'm scared. I'm scared of people finding out what happened. I'm scared of people coming to me in pity. I'm scared of people looking at me like a victim.
I can't stand to look at it either. It always brings back all of the bad memories from that night.
With everything that happened between Sebastian and I. Between Reece and I.
How we nearly broke up.
How I nearly died.
How she messed up my body so bad that doctor talked to me in private and said that I would struggle to conceive.
Although he hasn't said anything about it, I know that Reece is still torn up about that little fact. He wants children so bad, and I worry I may never be able to give that to him.
"Hey guys?" Mia looks around nervously.
"Yea?"
"Did someone have an orange?"
"I did. Why?" Blake looks at her confused.
"I'll be back."
She runs off towards the bathroom, probably to throw up what little she had on the plane.
We rush back, and I pull on the door handle only to find it locked.
"Is everything alright?" George asks.
"Its nothing." I say quickly. "It's just a lot of citrus smells still make her throw up."
"Oh. If I had known that you guys were coming I wouldn't have eaten one." Blake says quietly.
"It's not your fault."
"What's going on?"
Olivia turns the corner. "Why are we around the bathroom?"
The door opens the second she says that, her face lighting up when she sees Mia.
"Mia!"
She runs forward and wraps her arms around her.
"You didn't tell me you were going to bring Mia!"
"Surprise?"
"It definitely is!" She smiles at Mia, pulling her back to the dressing room to catch up.
"Let's go on stage."
