chapter seventy-three; real life

"Leanna? Hunter"

I sit up in bed, confused.

Is that-

"Are you home?"

"Reece!"

I run downstairs as fast as I can before wrapping my arms around him tightly.

"You're home!"

He chuckles. "Someone's happy."

"Of course I'm happy. I missed you so much."

"I missed you too."

He reaches into his back pocket.

"You might want this."

He pulls his hand in front of us.

"My perfume!"

He chuckles. "What did you do without your perfume?"

"I got more, duh."

"But-"

"I already had some ordered before you guys left for tour."

"So you made a big deal for nothing."

"I didn't have it for two weeks."

"Wow. So long."

"Shut up!"

"How'd the shirts do?"

"Great! Hunter's asleep in one of them right now."

He chuckles. "I'm surprised he's not awake right now."

"With all of my screaming?"

"Exactly." He looks around. "Wait, where's Luna?"

"Your parents took her and Betty out for a walk. They didn't want me taking a german shepherd for a walk."

"Well you're about six months along. It makes sense."

I roll my eyes. "I am perfectly capable of taking my dog on a walk."

"But what if she pulls on the lead or trips you?"

"Quit worrying. I didn't actually take her on a walk."

"I know."

"Ever. Your parents wouldn't let me."

He shakes his head. "They're just protective."

"I know."

I wrap my arms around him again.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too."

"What do you want to do?"

"I want to see my son."

"But-"

"I'll deal with his attitude for waking him up."

"Fine, but I'm getting him."

I follow Reece into Hunter's room.

"Hey buddy. Guess who's here?" I ask, reaching down to pick him up.

His eyes open and he stares at me, confusion on his face.

"Look!"

I turn Hunter towards Reece, but he completely misses him and buries his head in my hair.

"No, you've got to wake up."

He lifts his head up.

"Hunter, look over there."

Slowly, he turns his head towards Reece.

"Hi buddy!" Reece says, taking a few steps towards us.

Hunter just stares at him.

"Gee, his mood has only gotten worse since the last time I saw him. He-"

"Dada!"

Hunter practically jumps out of my arms, using my stomach to push himself towards Reece. Reece catches him, looking over at me worriedly.

"Leanna! Are you okay? Is she okay?"

"I think so." I say before gasping at a sharp pain.

"Should we-"

I cut him off, grabbing his hand and putting it on my stomach.

"Is she-" he looks up at me. "She's kicking!"

"She's never kicked that hard." I shake my head. "That hurt."

"I don't think she liked what Hunter did." He says as she kicks again.

"I don't either."

"Should we check it out? What if something's wrong?"

"I have a doctors appointment tomorrow. We can see if something is wrong there, but I doubt it."

"You sure?"

"Well she's kicking. That's a good sign."

He nods.

"Reece, calm down." I say, putting a hand on his cheek. "Everything is fine. Don't worry about it."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

He nods once more, walking upstairs to our room.

"Are we watching a movie or what?"

I smile, walking to the kitchen to make popcorn before walking upstairs, seeing Reece already laying down in the bed with a movie selected.

"Ahh, perfect!" He reaches for the popcorn as I climb onto the bed.

"You sure are something."

"You could say that again." He says. "Remind me why I was such a butt head when Hunter was first born? I don't want to do that again with her. Speaking of which, we need to choose names."

"I know we need to choose names. You-"

"I was thinking we could keep your middle name."

"Mae?"

"I love the name Mae. We just need something that goes along with it."

"Is this what we're going to do instead of watching a movie?"

He sits up.

"Can we?"

"You really want to?"

"Well we haven't exactly come up with a name yet, so yes."

I smile at him. "Then I guess we're figuring out her name."

sorry it's been forever
