chapter thirty; real life

December 1st, 2020

"It's Christmas time!"

Reece jumps onto the bed next to me, making Luna growl slightly.

"What are you on about? It's only the first!" I roll over, burying my face in my pillow.

"Exactly! That means we can finally start decorating!"

"I don't want to!"

"Please?"

"Reece-"

"If we don't do it this year we have to go all out next year for his first Christmas."

"I was already going to do twice as much as I normally would."

"But that still wouldn't be a lot."

I roll over to where I was facing him, smiling when I see his messy hair.

"How long have you been up?"

"Since 8."

"What time is it now?"

"Half past 9."

"That's not a terrible time to get up."

"No it's not. Although, now that I'm back in bed I don't really want to get up."

"So don't."

"But we need to set up a tree."

"But today?"

"Yes?"

"Fine. Let me lay around for a little longer."

"No! We need to get there before the crowd!"

I swear he's such a child.

I fell in love with a child.

Wait, no. That sounds disgusting and creepy.

I fell in love with a man-child.

Is that a thing?

I fell in love with a man that acts like a child.

That sounds better.

"Well when I throw up everywhere it's your fault."

"It's one of those days?"

I nod as my stomach tightens, practically jumping out of bed and running towards the bathroom and emptying whatever was in my stomach.

"Ah crap. Here she goes again."

I flip him off as I flush the toilet, sitting up and wiping off my mouth.

"Good thing your hair was already pulled up."

"You're no help."

I slowly walk to the kitchen, grabbing a glass of water.

"That's one way to wake up in the morning." Reece says, getting into the fridge and grabbing a yogurt.

I couldn't even think of eating right now.

"Yea, no kidding. Before we go tree shopping, let's go out and get whatever those pregnancy pops are for morning sickness."

"But you don't usually have morning sickness."

"For today you idiot. Besides, if we get a small one we should be good. I'm in my second trimester now and a lot of times the morning sickness goes away."

"Hopefully it does. I'm hoping those days you have every now and then stop completely. I'm tired of you pushing me off of you when we're sleeping because you have to throw up."

"You and me both."

I walk to the bathroom, brushing my teeth.

"Do you want to invite the others? We can have them come over and help decorate."

"No. This is just an us thing."

He smiles. "A whole day with my wife? Hell yea."

I smile, rinsing my mouth out with water. "But aren't you supposed to go into the studio?"

"No. It snowed pretty badly last night and so they blocked off a few of the more dangerous roads."

"And the studio just so happened to be on one of those streets?"

"You know it."

"Is that why you were in such a good mood this morning?"

"Yes. Joe called George and George called me. I'm supposed to call Blake and tell him, but I figured I would give him a little more time to wake up. Olivia included."

"Oh, look. You're being smart."

"Hey!"

"You know its true."

He smiles, reaching onto the dresser and throwing some clothes at me.

"Here's a pair of leggings and one of the biggest jumpers I own. I know you're still weird about people seeing your bump."

"Well yea. The first day I was outside after we announced it I had fans asking to touch my stomach and see the sonograms."

"What? How come you never told me?!"

"Because you would've thought it was cute."

"Okay, maybe at first, but you still should've told me."

"I didn't think it was that important?"

"Didn't think it was important? Of course it is!"

"Okay, fine. I should have told you."

He nods. "Don't let them do that to you. It's an invasion of privacy."

"I know. I was pretty annoyed because I was barely showing and every time I took a step someone came up and asked about the baby and if they could feel my stomach."

I shudder.

"One time, this girl's mother noticed I was pregnant and as she shook my hand she put her other on my stomach and just kept it there."

"Jeez."

I quickly throw the clothes on, looking in the mirror to see that my bump was visible no matter how baggy my clothes were. It's not very big, it just looks like I ate too much in this jumper.

"Come on. Let's get a Christmas tree."
