chapter eighty-three; real life

"But Reece, I don't want to go!"

He rolls his eyes, trying to suppress a smile. "Quit acting like a child."

"I am not! I literally just had a child, you have no idea how sore I am right now."

"Please?"

"Reece, she's barely a month old."

"Which is why I waited to ask you."

I stare at him and how his bottom lip was sticking out slightly.

I hate it when anyone pouts.

"Fine, but you're dealing with her if she starts crying."

"Deal"

I stand up off the couch, putting Kaitlynn down in her swing since she was asleep, hoping she doesn't wake up.

She usually doesn't stop crying if you put her down. Even if she's asleep, she wakes up and starts screaming.

It totally helps with my sleep. Reece and I have barely gotten any in the month we've been home, and I hated it.

Hunter was always quiet and usually only woke up once or twice unless he was sick or when Reece was gone.

I finish throwing on some makeup, making sure to cover up the bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep.

"You ready? The boys are here." Reece says, walking in. Kaitlynn was in his arms, staring at him.

"She woke up? I didn't hear her."

"She was just looking around when she woke up."

"She didn't cry?"

"Nope."

"Good."

I walk out of the bathroom, putting on my shoes as fast as I can, which isn't really that fast.

We walk downstairs, getting into the car and starting the short journey to the ice cream parlour.

I have no idea why Reece decided to drag me out of the house to get ice cream. I could have stayed home with Kaitlynn and everything would have been fine. I wouldn't be worried about her screaming at the top of her lungs, and I definitely wouldn't be worried about people staring at us because she was crying.

"Do you want your normal?" Reece asks as we get out of the car.

"Yep. Just a regular scoop. I don't want a whole lot."

He gives me a look.

"I'm not trying to gain all of this baby weight back."

He sighs. "How many times do I have to tell you that you look amazing? Baby weight or not?"

"Reece-"

"Nope."

He shakes his head and turns around, keeping me from seeing the small smile. I may not be able to see it, but I know my husband and I definitely know all of the little things he does.

"Come on, let's just go inside."

He laces his fingers with mine, pulling me towards the door. He opens it up for me, and I step inside just before hearing a loud thud, making me turn around.

"Oh, fuck!"

I stare at Reece, trying not to laugh at him.

But it doesn't work considering Blake and George were right behind him laughing their asses off. The few people that were in the parlour stare at us, confused as to what just happened.
