We knock on the door, it immediately opening up, a smiling Lexi in front of us.
But her smile drops and she stares at us in confusion.
"You are not who I thought was at the door."
"Is that a bad thing?" Reece asks. "You're supposed to be happy to see your older brother."
"Nah. I'm happier to see Leah."
I smile as she walks over to hug me.
"See? I told you she loves me more than you." I say, making him cross his arms.
"Who'd you think was coming over?"
"A friend."
"Oh?"
I raise an eyebrow. "Do you have a boyfriend you're not telling us about?"
"No!"
"Lexi, if you're lying to me-"
"Back off Reece." Jamie says, opening up the door and smiling at us. "I've already gone through the same thing when she said she'd invited someone over."
"Is it a boyfriend?"
"No! I said the name Carter and they immediately thought I was talking about a boy."
"Are you?"
"No!" Lexi shakes her head, walking off towards the living room.
"Look at that, you've pissed her off." I say, stepping inside.
"Let her be. She's only fifteen, she's not dating just yet." Reece responds, making Jamie laugh.
"You were when you were fifteen."
"That's because I'm the oldest."
"That doesn't mean anything, Reece." Jamie says.
"Do not encourage her Dad."
"Who said I was?"
I roll my eyes, walking into the living room where Lexi was sitting on her phone. I pull the small gift out of my purse and set it on my lap.
"What's this? It's not my birthday."
"Open it, just try not to be too loud."
"What does that mean?"
"Don't let Reece know I'm telling you already."
"What's that supposed to mean? You're moving or something and are afraid to tell my parents?"
"No, just open it Lex."
She pulls the lid off of the box, confused at first.
We had gotten a onesie to give all three of them. Lexi's says, 'I have the best auntie in the world' and Reece's parents both have 'World's greatest grandparents' on them.
She pulls out the onesie, not bothering to see what it says at first. She's focused more on what's underneath.
Underneath was one of the copies from the sonogram.
Seeing this, she screams and jumps up, throwing her arms around me.
"I told you to be quiet!" I laugh, returning the hug.
"I don't care!"
"What's going on in here?" Lyndsey storms in, a confused look on her face.
Reece and Jamie follow, and you could tell from the expression on Reece's face that he knew I told her.
"Mum, Dad. We have something for you."
"What?"
"I'll be right back."
He walks to the car to get the bags, taking only a few seconds to do so. They stare at us, confused.
"I swear, if you're going to tell me you're having a baby..." Jamie trails off as he's pulling out the tissue paper.
I chuckle, and Reece walks over to me and wraps his arms around me as they open it up.
"You're having a baby?" Lyndsey asks, looking at the onesie and then to us for confirmation.
"Look farther into the bag."
"Oh! It's a sonogram!"
She pulls it out of the bag before walking over to us, wrapping her arms around us tightly.
"Ah, congratulations!"
Jamie joins in on the hug.
"I think Lexi had a better reaction than the both of you combined." I say, smiling.
"I'm crying!" Lyndsey says.
"Don't cry!" Reece says. "I can't handle crying girls!"
"We know this Reece." Lexi and I say at the same time.
"Well at least I didn't ruin the surprise." he looks over at me.
"She didn't ruin the surprise!" Jamie says. "Lexi kind of did."
"Dad!"
"Besides, I saw the onesie on the floor from where she had knocked it over."
"Way to go Lex." Reece says as we all begin to break out of the hug.
"Come on, let's go eat before the food gets cold." Lyndsey says.
"What about Carter?" Jamie asks.
"I already told her not to come. It needs to be more of a family night." Lexi says, walking off to the dining room without us.
We chuckle, following her.
"Uh, mom? The food's burning!"
Lyndsey looks over at Reece and I.
"Why don't you two take Lexi out for dinner?"
