chapter twenty-one; real life
Leah slips into her second dress of the day, another white dress, only it cuts off mid thigh and is a little more plain than her wedding dress. It's an off the shoulder dress, the top half of it being lace with a small slip of white fabric underneath to keep anything from being shown. She paired it with her heels from the wedding, as well as the jewelry. Her hair had been pulled down, the curls now being loose waves.
"I got it!" Emily says, running into the room.
She had made sure that Reece or anyone else didn't come into the room before she came in, looking around the halls quickly.
"You sure?"
"I had to duck out of your own wedding reception just to get it. I'm sure."
She nods, taking the bag from Emily.
Leah hadn't realized it when she left the apartment that morning, but she had forgotten the small gift that she had bought Reece the night before.
"And here's this." Emily reaches into her purse, handing her a small paper bag.
"What's this?" She asks, peering at the bag.
"You've been talking about this for a few days now, so I decided to rip the band-aid and get it for you."
"Get what, exactly?"
"You'll see."
Reece was beyond happy. He was even happier than when he performs on stage, which is something he never thought could be beaten.
At least until he met Leah.
"Where's your bride?" George asks, looking around the room.
"I'm not sure. I think she's still getting ready."
"It's been almost half an hour. Are you sure she's still getting ready?"
Just as he says that, Leah and Emily make their way from the back of the building, walking towards the two boys.
"Hello Mrs Bibby."
Leah smiles. "It feels weird."
"What does?"
"The fact that I'm actually married to you."
"Why is that weird?"
She shrugs. "Because I've been Leanna Ball my entire life. Now I'm Leanna Bibby."
"I like the sound of that."
"I love it."
The two smile at each other before looking over to Emily and George, who were both standing awkwardly next to each other. Neither were sure what to do, which only made the situation worse.
"Dance with me."
George is surprised at Emily's words, as was Emily. She hadn't realized she had said it before it was too late, her mouth speaking before her mind registers the words.
"Why would you want to dance with me?"
"Because we're both extremely single."
He chuckles.
"Besides, technically we're each other's dates to this thing."
"We are?"
"I mean, we walked down the aisle together."
"You have a point."
"Come on." Emily grabs George's hand, dragging him out to the floor.
Leah and Reece smile at this.
