chapter sixty-three; real life

June 30th, 2022

Leanna scrambles around the house, desperately trying to get everything in order before Reece and Hunter come home.

The blue and pink post it's are set up neatly on the counter, arranged to where they point to the living room, where Leanna would be surprising Reece.

There's a box in the middle of the room, the sonogram taped inside the box. 

Seeing a text from Reece that he had just picked Hunter up from his parents, Leanna runs into the living room and sits down behind the box, knowing Reece would be inside any second.

The wait was killing her. She couldn't wait to see Reece's reaction, knowing that they had wanted this for months. 

It was finally happening for them again, and she was over the moon about it.

They would've been okay if it hadn't happened again, but they were both wanting it so bad.

To become a family of four.

"Love? I'm home!" Reece sets a few things down in the kitchen, staring at the post it notes in confusion.

Luna runs over to Reece and Hunter to welcome them home, making Hunter giggle and pet her the best he could.

"Go find Mommy. I'm going to get you some food from the kitchen."

Hunter's feet hit the floor, his laughter filling the room when he spots Leanna on the floor, the box in front of her.

"Leanna? What's going on in the kitchen?" 

She could hear Reece chuckle from where she was.

"There's post its everywhere!"

Hunter plops down in front of me a smile on his face. He goes to open it, but Leanna has to pull his hands away before he could. If he had the surprise would have been ruined.

"Well you're happy to be home."

Leanna grabs the shirt from behind her, quickly changing Hunter into it. It was a little bit long on him, despite the fact that it was his size.

"Man, I really hope he isn't going to be short like me." Leanna mutters, shaking her head.

"Leanna?"

When she looks up, her eyes meet Reece's, filling her with even more excitement.

"Hi."

"Why is there a gazillion post it's in the kitchen?"

Leanna sighs, grabbing the box and holding it out for him. He stares at it for a moment before taking it, shaking it a little bit to try and figure out what was inside.

"What the hell is this? It's June, there's nothing special going on."

"Just open it."

He pulls off the top, the small bit of blue and pink confetti popping out onto his face.

"What the-"

He starts at the contents of the box before looking between it and his wife, a smile on his face.

"Are you serious?"

Leanna nods, pulling out another picture from her back pocket and handing it to him.

"You're not fucking with me?"

"No Reece, I'm not."

He reaches forward and pulls Leanna off the ground, wrapping his arms around her waist tightly. He lifts her up slightly, covering her face in small kisses.

"When did you find out?"

"This morning at the doctors."

"Really? How? They've never done that before!"

She nods. "They wound up taking some blood this time around and told me an hour later by bringing in an ultrasound machine."

"Oh my god! Hunter's going to be a big brother!"

He turns towards Hunter, stopping when he sees the new item of clothing on him.

"Wait a minute. My son was not in that shirt a minute ago."

"I know, I changed him. Duh."

"It says worlds best big brother."

"That was the point."

Reece picks Hunter up, holding him tightly as he jumps up and down.

"You're going to be a big brother!"

Hunter giggles, but it was because they were jumping around. He had no idea why Leanna and Reece were so excited, but that didn't matter.

When Reece stops, he looks at Leanna.

"When are you due?"

"February. I'm about four weeks along."

He smiles.

"Apparently all of our kids are going to be born early in the year. I almost feel left out."

"Shut it."

He smiles, lifting up my shirt and placing his hand on my stomach.

"There's a baby in there."

I chuckle. "There is."

"Baby?"

I look over at Hunter, my eyes wide.

"Wait a minute." Reece looks at Hunter and then at me.

"Did you just say baby?"

"Baby!" Hunter walks towards us, clapping his hands every now and then.

Reece smiles widely.

"Reece?"

"Yea?"

"I can't believe this."

"How do you think I feel?" He stands up, pressing a quick kiss to her lips. "There's going to be another Bibby!"

Leanna smiles. "There is."

"And here you were worried it wouldn't happen again."

"Look at how long it took us!"

"But it all worked out in the long run."

"It did."

"A family of four." The two smile at each other, both overwhelmed with joy.

It was a state of pure bliss, and nothing could ruin the moment.

it's like a thing for me to write all night

and when that happens important things usually happen in the book lol

but yea here's an extra chapter for the weekend
