chapter forty-nine; real life

August 11th, 2021

Luckily, Hunter had fallen asleep half way through the car ride.

That means that he won't be crying when we walk in and would end up ruining the surprise for Reece.

But that also means that there's a chance Reece is going to wake him up.

I take the car seat out of the car, checking to see if he was still asleep, which he was.

Well crap.

I set the carrier down on the ground and slowly unbuckle him, making sure not to wake him up fully.

I've noticed that if he wakes up in someone's arms he doesn't scream.

"Leah? Reece isn't in the dressing room. You can come in." Blake says, holding open the door, but quickly walks over to help when he sees that Hunter is now in my arms.

"Thank you." I say as he picks up the carrier and takes the diaper bag from my arms.

He nods, leading me through the arena until we reach a small room.

But the moment he opens up the door he takes a step back, nearly knocking into me.

"What's going on?"

"Shhh! Reece is in there." He whispers.

"I thought you said he wasn't!"

"A minute ago he wasn't!"

Blake sighs, turning around and leading me towards another dressing room, which I found out was The Vamps due to the sign.

The boys had decided to do a charity concert, and the boys of The Vamps as well as a few others had decided to help out tonight.

When Blake opens up the door, Brad turns around with a surprised look, a smile on his face when he sees me behind him.

"Leah!"

"Brad, shut the hell up!" I whisper shout, motioning towards the sleeping baby in my arms.

"Oh, right. Leah!" He says, only much quieter this time. "What are you doing here?"

"Trying to surprise Reece but it's not going to work very well if Hunter isn't awake because then Reece is going to wake him up when he sees us. I know he's going to scream."

"Yea, he probably will."

"Tell you what, just chill out in here until he wakes up, maybe even feed him." James says. "We'll make sure Reece doesn't come in here."

"Thank you."

The boys walk out, Blake staying behind.

"Text me if you need anything. I'll try to break away from Reece."

"Thanks."

He walks out of the room, leaving me and Hunter alone.

"And then there were two."

I walk over to the couch, making a small barrier out of pillows and covering it with a blanket so that I can set Hunter down. My arms were beginning to get tired.

Here's to hoping he doesn't cry.

He stirs a little bit, making a small sound in response. His eyes open up, and luckily he doesn't start screaming.

Instead, he smiles when he sees me.

"Someone knows that they get to see daddy today."

I grab the diaper bag, always watching to make sure Hunter doesn't roll out of the area that I made.

It only takes me about half an hour to change Hunter and feed him, which put him in a way better mood.

I grab my phone, texting Blake.

'Are we clear to come out?'

'Go ahead. Reece is on stage now horsing around with George and Brad.'

I make my way out of the dressing room, Hunter looking at whatever he can with wide eyes.

I position Hunter to where he was sitting up, still making sure I would be able to support his head in case he needed it.

He's gotten much better this past month, but it's not the best.

When we reach the stage, you could see Reece and Brad playing around with the guitars, playing random tunes.

Hunter squeals in excitement when he sees Reece, making me smile.

Reece stops playing the moment he hears Hunter. I can tell that he was confused, and George was just smiling at me and Hunter. reece turns around, a smile on his face.

"Leanna!"

He sets the guitar down, running towards us and wrapping his arms around us tightly.

Yet somehow my feet come out from under me and I start falling, so Reece wraps one arm around Hunter and another around my waist.

"That could've been bad." Reece mutters.

"No kidding."

"What are you doing here?"

"Saying hi."

"Well obviously, but why?"

"Are you seriously asking that?"

"Uh, yes?"

"I wanted to see you, and Hunter did too. It was getting bad."

He chuckles, taking Hunter from my arms.

"I missed you guys too." He presses his lips to my forehead, his grip around my waist tightening.

"Aww, that's cute, but we have to start working unless you want the entire night to be a disaster." Joe says.

"Five minutes?"

"You said that twenty minutes ago when you and Brad started screwing around!"

"Please just give me five minutes with them. I promise that's it."

"If you're not out here in five minutes you're in trouble."

"What are you going to do? Ground me?"

Joe chuckles. "I'm not going to ground you."

"Come on, lets not waste these five minutes." I say, grabbing Reece's hand and pulling him towards the dressing rooms.
