chapter seventy-nine; real life

I nervously glance around the doctor's office.

It was weird without Reece here with me. He's been at every single one since he got back from the mini tour, and since things are weird with us, I told him not to come.

'Are you sure you're okay?'

"Reece, I'm just waiting on the doctor to come in."

It feels weird talking to Reece like this. We haven't talked very much in the past two weeks since everything happened, and I kinda hated it. On top of that, I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions nonstop.

Maybe I was just overreacting because of hormones? I mean, he did tell me that she was the one who kissed him, and that he pulled away immediately.

'Shouldn't she be in there by now?'

"Reece, there were quite a few people out there. I'm sure she's just busy."

'I'm just worried.'

"You shouldn't be."

'I should! You still have a month left and you're having contractions. I don't want anything happening to my daughter.'

"It's probably just Braxton Hicks contractions. Really bad ones."

'I don't think so.'

"Well I do."

I sigh, going to say something but stop when the door opens up.

"I'll call you back later and tell you what she says, okay?"

'Got it. I love you'

I feel my chest tighten up.

'Sorry'

"You don't have to be sorry."

'We're going through some things. Things that involve you not being in the same house as me.'

"I know."

'Just tell me how it goes.'

"I will. Goodbye."

'Bye'

I hang up, looking up at the doctor.

"So I hear you been in pain recently?" She asks.

"Yea. Reece thinks they're contractions, but I keep telling him they're Braxton Hicks."

I start explaining everything that's been happening recently, and for some reason I can't seem to stop even though I know I should.

When I finally stop, the doctor looks at me for a moment before grabbing the ultrasound machine. She puts some of the gel on my stomach, giving me a cold chill. I hear her heartbeat immediately, making me smile.

"So? Was I right about the Braxton Hicks?" I ask, going back to the reason I came in here.

"No."

"No?"

"These are actually contractions. You're about 2 centimeters dilated"

"Oh." I look down at my stomach. "Wait, she's not coming now, right? Oh my god, Reece and I still haven't picked out a name! What are we supposed to do?"

"She's fine. You are going to be on bed rest for a while though."

"What about Hunter?"

"Reece is going to have to take a little bit more time off work to take care of you and hunter."
