chapter twenty; real life

it's a long one, so buckle your seatbelts and enjoy the ride :)

"You ready?"

"Definitely."

Leah smiles at Emily as she makes last minute adjustments to her dress.

"You aren't smiling."

"Sorry, nerves."

"What's the to be nervous about? You two are head over heels for each other."

Leah chuckles. "You know why. Everything good in my life always ends one way or another because of my mother, and I'm afraid this is going to be another one of those occasions."

"Right, yea." She walks towards the bride, a calming expression on her face. "But you and I both know that today is not one of those occasions. There haven't been sightings of your mother anywhere in the past year, and I doubt she's going to know that you're getting married today. The fans don't even know about today because you've kept it a secret and lied about not knowing the date yet."

Leah nods in response, her nerves slowly going away, but not entirely.

"I can't believe this is today. It seems so unreal." She says, changing the subject.

"That's how every bride is on their wedding day."

A million things were going through Leah's mind, especially the fact that she had been up all night trying, and failing, at writing her vows. It had been like that every time she tried to write them, but nothing she writes on paper seems to be enough.

Nothing she puts down seems to describe their relationship and every memory that they've had together perfectly, and all Leah wants is for this day to be perfect.

Meanwhile, Reece was with the boys in another room, on the other side of the building, running through his vows nervously.

"I knew that- Nope, I don't like it." He shakes his head, grabbing a pen off of the desk and scribbling out the sentence.

"Reece, come on. You worked on that for hours." Blake says.

"And I've decided it needs some changes."

"I don't think it does."

"Yes."

"Reece," George takes the piece of paper out of his hand, reading what all it says. "It's perfect the way it is. A bit cliche if you ask me."

"See! I don't want it to be cliche!"

The two others sigh, knowing that no matter how hard they try they won't be able to calm him down. He's been working on the vows for days now, and anytime he reads through them he always has to change something.

"What if you wing it?" Blake asks.

"What?"

"Say it as you feel it?"

"I'll mess up."

"No you won't."

"You don't know that."

"I do know that, Reece. You'll do great. I mean, look at how writing songs come naturally to you. I'm sure the moment you see her out there the same thing will happen."

There's a knock on the door, making the three boys turn to where Olivia's head was peeking through.

"Leah's ready."

Blake couldn't see much, but he was already in awe at how beautiful Olivia looked with the way her hair was styled and the tiny bit of makeup she had on. He could see a brief bit of her rose colored dress from where it covered her shoulder in a thin strap.
