chapter sixty-four; real life

August 1st, 2022

"Mom, we'll be fine." Reece says, trying to get his parents out of the way so we could leave.

We've been standing in front of the front door for about twenty minutes now, and if we didn't leave soon we would miss our flight. The boys have even texted us and told us to hurry up, which we've tried multiple times now.

Somehow, they convinced me to let them come along on what was supposed to be a trip for just me, Reece, and Hunter.

Blame the fact that the were able to guilt me into letting them go because of my stupid pregnancy hormones.

Lyndsey looks over at us.

"That's not what I'm saying."

"Then what are you saying?"

"You're going on a trip with everyone now, and then two days later you're leaving to go on tour with the boys. Don't you need a break?"

"Well technically the days in between are a break."

"Reece!"

"Besides, you're not missing my birthday this year. We'll be home by then."

Jamie nods, taking Hunter from Reece and then saying a few things to him.

"You better have fun. I'm gonna miss you."

"Bye pops."

Since Hunter's only been talking for a little under two months, he's called Jamie Pops since he couldn't pronounce Grandpa.

Jamie smiles at Hunter before setting him down, and he hurried off to the living room to grab more toys.

"I hate that he's so big." Lyndsey says quietly.

"How do you think we feel? Now that he's learned to talk he won't shut up!" Reece says, trying not to laugh.

"And it's always one word. He's said it for months now." I stop, realizing that they're going to ask and figure out that I'm pregnant again.

"What does he say?"

Called it.

"Oh, he says-"

"Baby!"

I look over at Hunter, who was running towards me, pointing his finger at my stomach. When he reaches me, he pats my stomach and smiles.

"Baby."

"It sounds like he's saying you're pregnant." Lyndsey says, chuckling.

She missed it.

And so did Jamie. I could tell by the way he was shaking his head and smiling at Hunter.

"We were going to wait until my birthday to tell you, but Hunter has other ideas." Reece says, trailing off.

That definitely went over his head.

"Wait, you're actually pregnant?" Lyndsey asks, making me nod.

"Surprise?"

"Oh my god!"

Jamie and Lyndsey hug me before hugging Reece.

"This is so exciting! How far along are you?"

"A few months."

"And you waited this long to tell us?"

"And you were going to wait even longer?" Jamie asks.

"Well-"

"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?"

"We-"

"Wait, if you're a few months along, why aren't you showing yet?"

"I have a little bit of a bump, but you can't really tell unless I point it out."

Lyndsey nods.

"Do the others know?" Jamie asks.

"We were going to wait until my birthday to tell them, unless they figure it out on the trip. Emily is the only one who knows because she was over when Leanna was hit with her first wave or morning sickness."

"She knew when I was pregnant with Hunter too."

"Yea well she was the one telling you to take the test."

"Right."

They both nod.

"Okay, we better let you guys get going, you don't want to miss your flight."

I could see Reece relax from out of the corner of my eye.

"We will see you when we get back."

"I was about to tell you that we needed to go." Reece says.

"Sorry, I didn't realize how long we had been talking."

"It's fine. We'll be back in two weeks. I'll see you then."

GUYS THIS IS REALLY RANDOM BUT I WAS PLAYING THE SIMS TODAY AND I DECIDED TO HAVE THEM LISTEN TO MUSIC AND THE VAMPS CAME ON
