I nod. "I'll be here packing with Olivia and your parents."
"Okay. Be safe. Don't lift anything heavy."
"Like I can." I say, motioning towards my stomach, which had only gotten bigger in the past few weeks.
"Just don't."
"I'm not going to Reece. I promise."
"Okay. I'll be back in a few hours. I love you."
"I love you too."
He kisses my cheek before walking out the door, looking back one more time at me and the others before the door shuts.
"Remind me why you're moving out again? You just moved in last year." Olivia asks as I walk into the bedroom, which was littered with all sorts of different sized boxes.
After the brief encounter with my mom and brother, I no longer felt safe here, and neither did Reece. They knew where we lived, and I freaked out every time I was home alone because I thought that they were going to barge in and do who knows what. Especially now that Reece and I are having a baby. I'm not going to put our little boy in danger.
Reece doesn't want to either.
I already had my mother try to kill me...
Reece and I had called the police, but after that she disappeared again, along with Sebastian. It's been over two years since the incident, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it.
I don't think Reece has either because last night I heard him muttering in his sleep the same thing he said over and over again that night.
Please don't leave me.
I almost cried when I realized what he was saying, and I hated that he was going through this again.
"My mother stopped by a while back."
"The mother that tried to kill you?"
"What other mom do I have?"
She sighs, wrapping her arms around me. "I'm sorry."
"I guess it's a good thing Reece and I found that house as soon as we did."
"No kidding."
Reece and I found a house that was only a few streets down from his parents' house. It had three bedrooms, one of which will become a studio. We decided to go for it, knowing that if we had another baby in the future we could just get rid of the studio and make that the other bedroom.
"I'm here with the truck." Jamie says, poking his head into the door.
"Okay. Can you start with undoing the bed? I'll help the best I can."
"Leah, don't worry about it." Lyndsey says from next to me.
"I want to help."
"And you can."
"So what do I do then?"
"Work on clothes?"
I nod, suddenly feeling useless.
We continue for a few hours until we decide to start loading the truck, which only takes another half hour. The drive to the new house is slow, and I can't wait to get inside.
But when we get there, the car is already in the driveway.
What is Reece doing here?
The boot of the car was open and inside I see a bunch of boxes, but they're all empty and I can't tell what they were holding.
I walk inside, making sure to slam the door so he knows someone is here.
"Shit! Who's at the door?"
"Blake? What the hell are you doing here?"
Reece comes rushing down the stairs, a little bit of paint on his forehead.
"Uh, Leanna! Why are you here?"
"Bringing some of the things from our flat over. What are you doing here?"
"Not being productive at the studio."
"I get that, but why? And why do you have paint on your forehead?"
I stop, realizing it.
"No. You're not working on the nursery, are you?"
"Maybe?"
"I want to see!"
"It's not done!"
"I don't care!"
I run up the stairs as fast as I can, which isn't very fast considering I'm pregnant.
"Leah, slow down!"
"I'm not even going that fast!"
"I don't care!"
I reach the door, which had a blue 'H' in front made out of wood.
"When did you get this?"
"Today."
I smile, opening up the door and looking inside.
"Oh my god."
"Do you like it?"
"No."
"What?"
Blake and George sit up, staring at me.
"We worked on this for hours! Are you telling me we have to restart?" George asks, leaning against the wall with a defeated look on his face.
"I love it!"
They all sigh in relief.
"I really thought you were telling me you hated it." Reece says, wrapping his arms around my waist, his hands resting on my stomach.
"Nope."
