chapter twenty-four; real life

"Reece! Come on before we're late!"

He runs out of the room, Luna following him.

"Luna, you have to stay here."

She cocks her head to the side.

"Come on, let's get you a bone to keep you occupied."

I walk to the kitchen, getting into the small bag of bones we have hidden in the cabinet.

Luna barks at me, and I give her one before walking back out to meet Reece.

"Get your shoes on!" He says, throwing them at me.

"Calm down!"

"Why? I'm excited!"

"I get that, but you don't have to throw shoes at the pregnant woman."

"Sorry about that."

"It's fine, but it'll be a problem when I look like a whale."

"You aren't going to look like a whale."

"I'm lucky I haven't started to show Reece, I'm going to look like a whale near the end."

He scrunches his face up. "No you're not."

"Do not argue with me."

"I'm not. I'm stating facts."

"It sounds a lot like arguing." I try to keep my smile from showing, and so does he. His lips quiver from straining so hard, and eventually we both give in.

"How about we agree to disagree?"

"Fine." I grab the keys from the hook and toss them to him. "You're driving."

He catches them effortlessly, immediately walking out the door and to the hallway.

"You know, we're gonna have to move soon."

I sigh. "Unless we turn your studio into the nursery. Or keep the baby in our room for the first year of its life."

"I'm not giving up my studio. The boys and I use it every chance we get! Besides, I'm home more when that happens."

"We can always move into one of the apartments a few floors above us. They're expensive, but there's like three or four bedrooms in a few."

"We only need a three bedroom." He says, pressing the button in the lift that will take us to the main floor.

"For now."

"Oh?"

"Shut up Reece. We've always talked about having more than one kid."

"I know, but I didn't think that you were going to bring it up so soon."

"And I didn't think we would be having a kid this soon." I smirk.

"Well I'm glad we are."

"I never said I wasn't!"

The doors to the lift opens and in front of us is George and Emily.

"What are you guys doing here?" Reece asks, the excitement that was once in his face now gone.

"You don't look happy to see us." Emily says, chuckling.

"Leanna and I were actually about to grab some lunch and then head over to my parents."

"Oh, we were just about to see if you wanted to get food with us." George says.
