chapter twenty-eight; real life

After the whole Alfredo fiasco, we were finally sitting down to eat. Food took an extra 45 minutes from that, but everyone seemed to be at peace when they finally got their food.

While we ate, we all talked about the future and everything coming up. How the boys have another tour next June, the festival run the Vamps are doing, and when Reece and I were going to start having kids.

Well they definitely didn't know.

When Connor asked, Blake, Olivia, and Emily all gave me a look, their smiles wide.

We just shook it off and said we didn't know. We originally planned on waiting until after Reece got back from tour, but we see how well that worked.

People finished within 20 minutes, and we were all ready for dessert, which was a little something Reece and I picked up in secret.

"What's for dessert?"

"Cake."

"What kind of cake?"

"You'll see, but first we have something to tell you." Reece says.

I walk into the kitchen, pulling off my sweater and grabbing the box that the cake was in.

When I walk back out, the people who hadn't already known stare at me in shock.

"Wait a minute, you're pregnant?" Connor stands up, a confused look on his face as he stares at my stomach.

"Maybe."

"What does that mean?"

"I am pregnant you dummy. I figured you wouldn't have asked what maybe meant since I have a bump."

"Oh."

"How far along are you?"

"Almost five months."

"Didn't you and Reece just getting married a little over two months ago?"

"Yep."

"So you found out before the wedding?"

"No."

"You found out after?"

"Yes."

"How long have you hid it?"

"Since the wedding."

I set the cake down, opening up the box and looking at it. It has the words 'little man or little lady?' written on it, a onesie with a tie and a dress.

"Wait, we're finding out what the gender is too?"

"Oh my god, just stop asking questions and let us get on with it." I say, shutting Connor up.

He sits back in his chair, looking extremely flustered. He had so many things going through his mind about this, and nobody was giving him a proper answer.

Reece picks the cake up out of the box and puts it on the table before grabbing the knife.

"You ready?"

I nod, putting my hand on top of his.

"Wait! Let me get a video!" Emily stands up, rushing over to her purse to grab her phone.

She gives us a thumbs up when she starts recording, and we immediately begin the countdown.

This suddenly makes me nervous.

I'm not sure why, but I did, and I can feel my palms become sweaty.

"Why are you so nervous?" Reece asks, pressing a kiss on my cheek.

That helps for a brief moment, but the worry comes back immediately, and I really hate that I don't know why.

I think it might just be because I'm here with my family and friends, announcing the pregnancy and the gender.

I think I'm just worried about their reactions.

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it."

"You sure?"

"Just cut the damn cake Reece."

He smiles at me as they get to one, and we start cutting the cake.

When we pull the slice out, all we see is blue.

"It's a boy!" Reece drops the knife, putting his arms around me tightly.

"If you hug me any tighter you're going to crush your son."

"Right, sorry."

He loosens his grip, and Blake pulls something out of his back pocket.

Turns out it was confetti, because the second he pulled on the string a mixture of blues come into my vision, making me smile.

"Are you crying?"

Reece pulls away, wiping underneath my eyes.

"I didn't realize I was. Stupid hormones."

He chuckles, wrapping his arms around me once more.

"We're having a boy." I say into his chest.

"I guess now you're going to say we can work on names?"

"That's all you're thinking about? The name?"

"That's all I've ever been thinking about since I found about you were pregnant."

I smile, pressing my lips against his softly, never wanting to forget this moment.
