chapter twenty-seven; real life

November 23rd, 2020

"This is amazing."

Reece puts the pictures from the sonogram earlier this week back on the fridge.

"We haven't told the others yet."

"So? We'll take it down before they get here."

"We'll forget."

"No we won't."

"Yes we will Reece."

"We've done it multiple times already."

I roll my eyes, walking to the living room.

"You know what?"

"What?"

"You're starting to show."

I look over at him and then to my stomach, not seeing anything.

"I don't-"

"Look in the mirror."

I walk towards the bathroom, lifting up my shirt a little bit. Sure enough, my stomach is poking out a little bit.

"Good thing we're telling them at dinner tonight."

"Yea, no kidding. Your dress shows everything."

"Knock knock! We're a bit early, hope you don't- oh my god!"

Reece and I look at each other before running out to the kitchen.

"What's going on?"

Olivia looks over at me, holding the sonogram. Blake had a confused look on his face.

"What's in your hand?" He asks, trying to look over her shoulders, but she's blocking him.

"It's a sonogram!"

"Like for a baby?"

"Yes!"

"You guys are having a baby?"

"Yes, Blake."

He smiles. "Do you know the gender?"

"Wait, how far along are you?" Olivia asks, cutting Blake off.

Thank god.

"About four and a half months."

"You waited that long to tell us?"

"Yes?"

"Jeez."

"Okay, we'll you guys are an hour early. I still need to get ready." I say, walking towards the bathroom.

"And I need to shower." Reece says, walking in front of me to our bedroom.

"Wow, just leave us in your flat to do whatever." Olivia says sarcastically, making me roll my eyes.

"Since you're early, could you get everything ready?"

"Like what?"

"Well I couldn't be bothered to make food for tonight because today started out terrible, and-"

"I'll make the food."

"I was just going to have you lay out the menus and we could all order in."

She shakes her head. "I'll make the food, and I promise I won't burn the building down."

"Fine. I'll be twenty minutes and then I'm helping you."

"You don't have to-"

"Olivia Madison I'm helping."

She smiles. "Fine."

I nod and walk to the bedroom, closing the door and walking to the bathroom, where Reece was already in the shower.

"Care to join?" He asks, his head poking out from behind the curtain.

"You're funny. I literally just got out. Besides, I have to help Olivia with food."

He nods, disappearing behind the curtain.

I turn on the blow dryer and begin to get ready, curling my hair and throwing on some mascara. The dress I had picked out was a black floral dress, which Reece was right about.

My bump was really showing.

The water turns off as I make a few final touches to my makeup, deciding to add a little bit of eyeshadow to my eyes.

"I told you that the bump was definitely going to be visible."

"Shut up."

He smirks, walking into our bedroom and quickly changing.

I walk out of the room, everyone else finally getting here.

"Leanna? I forgot the thing, I'll be back."

I look over at Reece.

"What did you-"

"You know, the thing I was supposed to get this morning but didn't because you didn't feel good?"

"Oh. Go get that."

"Bye."

He presses a quick kiss to my lips before walking out the door.

By now, Emily, George, and the boys of the Vamps had all shown up.

They were staring at me weirdly, as I had already thrown on a baggy sweater to cover up my stomach.

"You cold?" Connor asks, and I just nod.

"Well come here." Brad opens his arms, and I walk into the hug, the other boys wrapping their arms around me tightly. I hoped they wouldn't notice my bump.

"Leah! We need your help!"

I pull out of the hug, walking into the kitchen where Olivia was struggling to watch everything.

"You good?"

"Well I decided to make something simple, but it's gotten way more complicated and I can't keep up."

"What are you even making?"

"Spaghetti."

"So why is it so hard?"

"Because I decided to make the sauce separately and make Alfredo, but I've never made any."

"Alfredo isn't simple."

"I know that now!"

I chuckle, walking over to grab a spoon and taste the sauce, immediately picking it up and walking over to the sink to pour it out.

"Is it that bad?"

"Have you tasted it?"

"No? Am I supposed to?"

I pick up the spoon, grabbing some of the sauce left in the pan and handing it to her. She tastes it, cringing immediately.

"Okay, that's bad. Never let me cook Alfredo again."
