"H-He's a zombie now, Alex." Herc whispered to Alex. His face stopped moving and he dropped his coffee cup.

"My Thomas? My Thomas is a... zombie?" He asked. Herc only nodded, looking ashamed. Alex began to cry, pulling Herc into a hug that he accepted.

"I'm so sorry, Alex."

"It's... okay." Alex pulled away from the hug, obviously very sad. Herc nodded. He understood. The week before, Lafayette, his Lafayette, had been turned into a zombie. It hurt. You would feel sad and broken but then you would realize that your life mattered more. The fact that you were there mattered more. It would get better. Eventually...

The next few days were hard for Alex. Although it was supposed to be his turn to try to raid stores for the next week, Alex skipped it and Angelica went instead. Herc went out to look for fellow non-zombies. Eliza, Maria, James Madison, and Peggy stayed home with Alex. They all helped keep the house safe from zombies, even Alex. He didn't kill any zombie, he asked Eliza or Peggy to deal with them. Maria usually kept everything in order. She was optimistic about everything and no one wanted to make her kill, even if it was a zombie.

"Alex! Get out of bed." Eliza yelled at Alex after three days of his crying. Alex looked up, tears still flowing down.

"I-I was going to m-marry him when t-this nightmare was o-o-over." He whispered. Eliza's face softened and she pulled Alex into a motherly hug.

"I know, Alex. I know how you feel. Angelica, Peggy, and I lost our dad to this nightmare. You'll be okay..."

"No, I won't be. Whenever I was feeling down, Thomas would hug me and tell me everything was okay... He's not here to do that a-anymore."

"I'm sorry, Alex. I really am. But you need to help us. It's your turn to go raiding stores, Angelica needs to take a break... Can you do that? For all of us?"

Alex thought for a moment, pulling away from Eliza, and wiping his tears away.

"I'll try..."

The next day, Alex put on new clothes that Herc had found on a zombie. It was a nice suit, not fix to go raiding in, but honestly, any outfit worked. When he came downstairs, Angelica gasped a sigh of relief and Herc nodded happily.

"Finally!" Angelica yelled, pulling Alex into a hug.

"Good job." Herc smiled at Alex before going off to protet the house. Today, Peggy would be looking for more people who weren't zombies. Eliza looked proud.

"Bye, I guess." Alex said, after grabbing a quick orange Angelica had found for him the day before. He then proceeded to step out the door for the first time all week.

Alex began walking around to the main part of New York. Zombies were rare on the plain streets and usually spent their times in building, which was why the job of raiding buildings was so dangerous.

When Alex came across a large building with shops at the bottom of it, he decided he was going to go inside.

He slowly opened the doors that would've opened automatically if all power hadn't been cut off. The store itself was a grocery store that sat on the corner. A nice one, too. There were things left on the shelves still and Alex took as much as he could carry in one hand, which was a lot. In his other hand, he held his knife. He couldn't bring a gun because they could run out of amo and you never know exactly how many zombies you will see.

And just as he was leaving the store, he saw the zombie he was looking for.

Alex knew there would be a zombie. When would there not be? But when he looked at that zombie's clothes and that zombie's eyes he knew it was his Thomas. It was Alex's Thomas. It was Thomas. Except the zombie version.

"Thomas! I-It's me!" Alex yelled, walking into the street. Thomas the Zombie followed, his mouth opening and closing. Alex threw an empty box from the ground at it. He chewed on it for one bite before swalling the entire box. Imagine how fast he could swallow a small Alex.

"Eat." Thomas spat out.

"Thomas!"

"Eat."

"Thomas!"

"Eat."

Alex sighed.

Then he did the unimaginable.

Alexander Hamilton, the human, pulled Thomas Jefferson, the zombie, into a soft, sweet, short kiss. When he pulled away, he was hoping that he was still a human. And he was.

He was a human kissing another human.

The other human pulled away.

"Alex! Oh my gosh! I'm... okay. I'm so sorry, Lexi!" Thomas screamed and tackled Alex into a hug. Underneath him, Alex groaned.

"Ow... Get off of me, dork." Thomas did as he asked, pulling Alex up with him.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah! Oh my gosh, you're alive! I love you..." He buried his head in Thomas's chest. Thomas picked him up, carrying him back to the house. Before they walked in, Thomas noticed Alex was asleep.

Softly, he kissed his forehead and whispered into Alex's ear.

"I love you, too."
