The rain hit harder and Alex noticed. His breathing became faster and his eyes became larger. Thomas looked over at him. In his little blue blanket, shivering and on the verge of tears. He couldn't look at Alex like this without wanting to comfort him.
So he did.
Slowly, getting up, Thomas made his way over to Alex. At his arrival, Thomas's arms pulled Alex's quivering body into a hug. Alex only whimpered and crawled closer to Thomas. At his acceptance of the hug, Thomas smiled and kissed Alex's forehead.
The rain hit harder again, this time scaring Thomas a bit. But he wouldn't show his fear to Alex. So instead he rubbed and traced circles on Alex's back.
"I love you, darlin'," Thomas whispered, making Alex smile a little bit.
"I love you, too." Alex whispered back, then let out a cry to signify his fear.
"It'll all be okay." Thomas whispered.
This forced out another whimper from Alex, but Thomas could tell he wasn't as scared. The shuddering his body had done before was over.
They fell asleep like that. Alex in Thomas's arms, Thomas holding Alex close. The rain helped Thomas fall asleep, while the warmth Thomas gave out helped Alex fall asleep.
The rain stopped a few hours later.
