let's pretend alex is going to MIT because that's the only college campus i've been on besides usc
I watched outside as my foster dad, Mr. Washington, drove me to college. He offered me the chance to drive but I refused, saying I wanted to see my college. We were a few blocks away and I could hardly sit still. All my stuff was in the back along with my boyfriend and all of his stuff. His parents died, he lived at an orphanage until he turned eighteen a few months ago.
We pass by trees and people. Some people walk, some run, some sprint, but all look sad and excited at the same time. And then... I see it. A large college, one building looking like a dome and another on the other side of the street. People are crowding into the building and everyone looks surprised and nervous.
"We're here." Dad announces, driving slowly past the school before driving fast again to get a parking space somewhere (anywhere).
"Alex?" Thomas asked after we drove around for a bit.
"Wow." I respond.
"You excited?" Thomas wonders, putting his hand behind my shoulder. I hold onto it, kind of scared now that he wants to know my feelings, but I really don't know.
"I don't... Wow." I can't even speak properly.
Dad parks the car and hops out. I just keep looking out the window, suprised. Thomas gets out to, opening my door and pulling me out. He has the same expression as me. We both just stand there, not knowing what to do.
"We made it." I say. I'm not sure why I'm surprised. I always knew I had a good college life ahead of me, considering all my grades were A's. Now, here I am. At MIT. With my beloved boyfriend, Thomas.
As I stand there, I feel a fly land on my arm. I don't think much of it. Then, I do.
"Ow!" I scream, grabbing my arm. But I can't touch the affected area, it hurts too much. Both Thomas and Dad turn to look at me, but Thomas is the one who comes over first. He grabs my arm and looks at it for a few seconds before realizing what it is.
"Bee sting. I'm taking him to the college to find a band aid." He says quickly to my father before grabbing my other arm and rushing me off.
"It really hurts!" I whine halfway there. Thomas turns around and looks at me, looking like he wants to kiss me but decides against it, "I'm allergic." I inform him.
"I know." He says back. Aw, he knows. My heart melts, but only for a moment. Then, I go right back to the searing pain in my arm.
We get to the college way too slowly and he finds me a band aid.
"Thank you." I say when it's finally on. The pain has died down, although it hurts a bit. When a bee stings me, the area infected puffs up and looks all red for a week or two. Whenever I touch it, it stings a bit too, like I'm reliving the pain of being stung again.

Dad payed for Thomas and I to be roommates. Ergo, he feels safe leaving me with Thomas. So, when all our stuff is out of its boxes, we have all said our goodbyes and cried, he leaves. I close the door softly and walk into our shared bedroom.
"He's gone." I say softly, going to our shared bed and resting my head on Thomas's shoulder.
"Mhm. Scared?" Thomas asks. He reaches for my arm, touching it a bit. Oddly enough, it doesn't feel bad when he touches it. I purr (like a kitten), "Is your arm any better?"
"Mhm," I mock his answer, then actually decide to talk, "It's fine."
