14. Smukfest

POV Shawn

In Denmark everything went just a little different than normal. We lost two suitcases, Nathan cried the whole flight and we weren't allowed to land on the ground because the airport didn't know we were coming. Eventually we got permission and I'm now walking on Denmark ground with my baby boy in my arms. We start walking to the exit when I receive a text from an old friend named Karl Mueller.

He's my high school best friend and I miss him so much. Apparently he's here on holiday and will be in the audience tonight, but now he's at the airport for me, for us. He'll be driving Indy, Nathan and I to the concert, so we can catch up a little. I haven't seen him since my first tour in 2016. "Hey bro!" I hear a familiar voice. I look up from my phone and see him. He's wearing that same old shirt like always and I fucking love it. "Bro! Long time no see." We hug eachother and I introduce him to my friends and Indy of course. "We'll follow you to the concert." Geoff says.

This day has been horrible so far. And on top of it, it started raining again. I've a performance at Smukfest in exactly two and an half hours and it seems like we've got to blow it off. The rain is just a little too much and the people will get sick when they stay in the rain all night long. Even if they wanna stay, it's not allowed according the state.

"The show must go on Shawn." Andrew says after he made a call with the organizers. Secretly I'm very happy that it continues. I was really pleased with this. Maybe because I've never performed in Denmark before or because Indy looks even better than usual tonight. She's shining in a certain way, I can't explain it.

In the car Indy is against me. She can't sleep on the plane because she thinks it's scary, so she fell asleep a few minutes ago. "You love her, huh?" Karl asks when we arrive at a gass station. First I was shocked, we never talked about relationships and that kind of stuff, but I feel like we need to have this conversation. I stroke Indy's hair and look at her peaceful looking face. "She's my everything, man." There's a short silence. "I can't live without her." He nods and says he's happy for me. Then he steps out of the car to refuel.

A hour later it's my time to shine. First I have an interview to some random guys with a microphone. I wasn't prepared for that, but it was fun to do. They made some cardboards with my head on it and it was so funny.

Indy was sitting behind the camera and I was constantly smiling at her. She looked so cute. After the interview she asked if she could have a cardboard with my head on it. "I can look at your face when I miss you." She jokes.

And now I'm standing at the biggest festival in Denmark, thousands of people are singing along to my music, it is amazing. It starts raining again, much harder than before. Everyone's still there, singing their hearts out for me.

I feel bad for them to be honest. I want to show my compassion for them, they're my fans after all. Without them I wasn't the person I am now. And I'm also sweating like crazy so this is what I'm gonna do. "Can I have a bottle of water, please?" I ask Geoff. He gives me one and looks at me like I'm an idiot. Okay, maybe I am.

Indy starts laughing so hard when she sees me. My hair isn't looking good and my shirt is soaked. But it was fun to do. I run to her after my concert and hug her. "Yes, thank you."

"I love you so much, beautiful." I pull her extra close. After a while she's also soaked. I take a look at my son for a moment. He's smiling when he grabs me wet hair.

I look at Indy for a moment and see her smiling at her phone. "Why are you smiling? Did you got a love letter from your admirer?" She laughs a little more. "Kinda." She shows me her phone when I take a seat next to her.

"Maybe Mike's right. You're gonna get laid tonight." Indy says with a wink. Her hand is against my chest and my heart starts beating faster. She does that every time she touches me. I start smiling immediately and can't stop thinking about tonight. "Only if you change Nathan's diaper." She adds quickly as she gives him to me. I smell a horrible smell. "What did he eat? Is he dead inside?" Indy starts laughing and kisses me on my cheek as she wishes me good luck. "I deserve a bonus tonight!" I yell at her.

She and her cute ass disappear. Oh I love that girl.
