Chapter six- Speeding cars outside a gas station
"Hope." Jolting up I grasped Daniels arm as he looked at me worriedly. " You were having a bad dream. " He said softly. I wiped the sweat off my face and rolled over shaking. I couldn't remember the dream, just the utter terror I felt.
After moments of the shaking still continuing Daniel wrapped an arm around my waist. I stiffened before swallowing and turning his way so that I was snuggled against his chest. He took his arms pulling me more to him. I sighed in relief as the shaking left me.
When I awoke I was alone. There was glass spread across the floor and Daniel was standing bloody facing away from me. He was shaking on the other side of the broken window. How in the Heck I didn't hear the commotion of this I did not know. I pulled the blanket away from me placing my feet gently on the carpet avoiding pieces of glass sprawled across the ground. I gulped. "Daniel?" I asked my voice barely audible.
Daniel turned to me, his eyes were glassy. I took another hesitant step toward him when he let out a low growl. " Stay away from here." He snapped. I should have stopped but I wanted to know what it was he was staring at on the other side of the window. I took another step and saw the hint of blonde hair. My breath caught in my throat as Daniel took me by the arms and pulled me into his chest. " Close your eyes, Hope." He said softly. I did as he asked scared of what would happen if I didn't. I held onto him and swallowed the fear rising in my throat. " Are you going to kill me?" I asked my voice scratching my throat.
Daniel was tense and I heard his chest rumble as a soft chuckle escaped his lips. "No, my dear Hope." I only nodded clutching onto him with fear and confusion as I was set down in the back of his jeep. He sighed heavily. "Hope, rest. All will explained when you wake." I fought against the sleepiness evading me but before I knew it, It had won.
I bolted upright to find myself still in the back seat of the car. The Jeep was parked and we sat in front of gas station. I looked around not seeing Daniel and my heart began to race. He had killed someone. He had just freaking killed someone. I ran a hand through my red hair and down my face, my mind trying to think up a reason for why he had killed someone. everything seemed bad so I threw open the door. It was dark outside and it was lightly sprinkling. I took a deep breath looking around me. A road, gas station, trees. I stood still and leaned against the car door. If I left daniel that would mean that Simone would be sitting there waiting for me instead.
I swallowed. Both sounded bad. I cautiously walked toward the road, my pace picking up as I heard the ding of a door. I sucked in a breath taking off running, my feet slamming against the pavement. I waved my hands obnoxiously at a pair of headlights in the distance. I heard their engine reve and the picked up place. I still continued running at them as Daniels calls died away, the only sound being the car barreling my way. I stopped my movements and my eyes widened as the car contiued straight at me. I screamed shielding my face for the impact. I was wrapped into an embrace somethinv wrapping around shielding the blinding lights. It felt like an eternity when I heard a rippling sound and two hands grasped mine. I looked up seeing Daniel, two glittering black wings outstretched. I felt my knees buckle and Daniel caught me helping sit onto the cold road. "You-." Daniel sighed crouching in front of me. "My name isn't Daniel." I parted my mouth in shock. "Who are you?" I whispered. "I am Asherd, leader of the Fallen." I forgot how to breathe looking at his wings. Asherd sighed caressing my cheek. "You are my special." I cocked my head to the side."you're what?" Asherd smiled softly. "The universe had seen I had been doing well as well as my people and they gave me you as a gift. Also to see if I truly do have love in my heart." He tucked a hair behind my ear. "But to my dismay, a portion of my people have gone rogue, they want to hurt you because they think you make me weak." I blinked. "But I just met you."
"Yes, but I knew that when needed I would find you and I did."
