Chapter 18- Safe house

A couple hours later we stopped again and grabbed some food before Asherd climbed into the back seat alongside me. It was almost past midnight now and my eyes were beginning to close. Asherd draped his jacket over me and I rested my head on his shoulder as he wrapped an arm around me. I curled into his side and closed my eyes savoring in his warmth and the smell of pine and mint.

Not long after I awoke to shouting and a blurred vision of the car ramming into the railing. My head shot forward and Asherd caught me before I hit the back of the seat. Asherds arms were wrapped  around me and as soon as we made impact everyone in the car was silent. All I could hear was everyone's ragged breathing. "Don't move." Asherd said sharply. I didn't listen peering out the window and gasped. We were hanging off a bridge and one wrong move could send us tumbling into its icy depths. I choked on air, my heart pounding in my ears. A loud bang sounded outside the car and I screamed as a hand shot through the side window toward me. Novas blue eyes shone back at mine as she held a hand securely onto the passenger door. She smiled and traced a nail across the side of the car, the sound making my teeth ground together. "Don't." Asherd growled but it was to late she let go of the car and her face contorted into one of anger as she shoved the car with an inhuman strength.. A scream caught in my throat as the car whined and dropped into the black water beneath us. Asherds arms wrapped tightly around me burying me into his chest in an attempt to shield me from the impact. A scream tore through me as we hit the water. Water was flooding in from the window and everyone open part of the suburban. I was shivering from the cold,My vision was blurred and I fumbled with my seat belt and watched with a foggy bison as Ashed slammed his fist into the window and it shattered. I clutched onto him and dug my nails into his neck as he swam upwards. I wrapped my legs around his body, holding my breath.
When we surfaced, I gasped for air and coughed and sputtered. I clung onto Asherds neck, blinking and coughing violently. Asherd accessed me. "Are you okay?" I nodded still coughing. I finally caught my breath and gasped in fear as Killian emerged from the water. "Two cars went into the water and I can't find Amy." He said panicking. "Is there anyone still in the car?" Ashered asked. Killian shook his head and Asherd looked around for the other car and pointed to where a figure was bobbing up and down from the water. "Over there." He yelled and immediately Killian took hold off. It was Amy. Killian drug her to shore and laid her into the grass, taking in a breath and pumping air into her lungs. I watched in horror as her body showed no signs of life. Asherd pulled us to the shore and held his hand tightly around my waist to stabilize my shaking form. Asherd looked to me to withdrawing his arms. "Are you okay?" I nodded and he dropped to his feet taking a turn and pumping air over again and again before water spewed from Amy's mouth. His more aggressive form of CPR awakening  her.

Ashered drew away as Killian held her head up as she coughed roughly. "It's okay, Amy I'm here." He said as she placed a hand to a bloody wound on her forehead. Killian kisses her gently on the lips and Asherd and I turned away looking at the bridge. I let go of Asherd and walked toward the shore. Asherd helped opal out of the water and I turned to look at the bridge. Nova stood there beside Simone on the edge wings outstretched grinning wickedly. As quickly as I noticed her, she pressed her lips to something and I realized in horror when I felt a prick on my neck that it was a sleeping arrow. More were fired and I felt my legs buckle and I watched paralyzed as everyone fell to the ground. I laid there and watched as Asherd pried everyone that was hit at his body. I could see the fight in his eyes as he clamped his jaw shut and grunted knees buckling beneath him. My eyes were wide in horror and a tear slipped from my cheek as he fell to the ground. Hands digging at the ground. "Hope." He whispered distressed and that was the last thing I heard before a searing pain sent my head knocking forward.
