Chapter 16- A long car ride and a long conversation

I stuffed my bag into the backseat of a black suburban. I was about to pile in beside Opal and Amy when an arm caught mine. I turned around to see Asherd. He smiled at me and pulled me into his arms. I gasped in surprise inhaling his heavenly pine and mint scent. He placed a kiss in the crook of my mouth and let me go as I climbed into the vehicle. "Be safe, Hope." I nodded and heard Killian tell him they needed to go before he nodded swiftly and shut my door. "Ohh so you finally kissed the man." Amy cried excitedly. I shook my head my face beat red. "Actually today wasn't the first time. Thank you very much." I laughed. Opal raised a brow and Amy smirked. "Give me the deets." I shook my head. "Nope."

"Yes."

"No."

"Fine, only if you answer some of my questions first."

"Deal."

I inhaled. "Okay I want to know more about the Fallen. How it happened. How Ashered became the leader. How come Simone wants to kill me and how in the hell Asherd found me that day on the beach when I needed help."

Amy stared at me taken aback. Opal on the other hand nodded. "Damn girl you're on a roll."

I rolled my eyes, narrowing them. "Answers for answers or no deal." I said crossing my arm and looking out the window as we pulled dramatically away from the house that had been my home for almost two months.

Amy blew raspberries and Opal leaned back in her chair. "Well we can answer everything except for the last question. Because well that is for Asherd to tell you himself."

I nodded turning attentively to Amy as she twirled her blonde hair. " So the fallen are a race of angels that were in heaven since the beginning of time. We all fall for different reasons, some reasons worse than the other. For example some fall for love, to be human while others committed treason or wanted to exterminate the people of Earth. Well about two hundred years ago Ash Fell."

"Two hundred years ago?!" I gasped. Amy waved her hand rolling her eyes. "Hush, hush I'm telling a story Dopie."

"Dopie?" I said incredulously.

Amy pressed a finger aggressively to her lips. "Shhhhh." She hissed while Opal snorted. "Anyways, When Asherd fell it was because of a love for a mortal girl. He was her guardian and she was battling cancer. She wasn't supposed to live but she did because of Ashered. So he was sent down."

I furrowed my eyebrows confused. "But he was helping her."
Opal shook her head. "You don't understand. The creator has a path written for each person. Asherd changed that and it messed with the order of things. Well Because of that he was cast away. He disobeyed. The creator knew that even though he did that it was because of love. Asherd was one of the strongest Angels, powerful and true for thousands of years. Our creator was disappointed." Opal said solemly.

Amy raised her hand gesturing to the sky."But after serving his time for over a hundred years, the creator decided to use Ash as a leader. He would lead the fallen. But you see there are two groups of fallen. The light and the dark. Those with wings and those who had witches forge them out of dark magic. Many are still wingless but Simone is one of the few dark Fallen that have acquired wings. The job of the light fallen is to keep the human race safe and to ensure that the dark fallen don't harm others. Ashered has kept us safe and given us back our wings. We have lived as lights for a little less than one hundred years because of Asherd choosing us. For seeing the good in us."

I nodded. "And what of the specials?" I asked.

"Ah." Opal hummed. "Specials are made for the light fallen. Those who have done enough good that they are rewarded someone to love and cherish." I looked at them studying them. "Opal, I know Amy has a special but do you?" Opal smiled sadly. " No, I fell a little less than fifty years ago. I was a warrior of the creator when I ended up to close to a human. "

I looked at my hands sadly. "What happened?"

Opal sighed and Amy rested a hand on her shoulder. "The dark fallen killed him because I refused to become one of them." I grasped Opals hand and squeezed it tightly. "I am so sorry." I whispered. Opal shook her head. " I was a fool. Don't fret over me, Hope."

Amy quickly changed the subject. "Also, dopie Killian and I have been in love for years but we aren't specials. You don't have to be a special to find love." She winked as we pulled into a hotel parking lot. Amy popped open the door and slid out, Opal lingering. "For your last question. Simone wants you because you are what could not only hurt Asherd but also all of the light fallen. " And with that she left me in the suburban my hand on the doorknob staring astonished at her as she shut the door and turned, luscious black hair catching the light of the outside lamp.
