Chapter 20- Hunter
I could barely move. It had been days since I had seen Nova and for that I was grateful. I could hear water dripping from the cells, slow and silent, leaking in from the rain thundering outside. I pressed my hand against my forehead in an effort to stop the throbbing. "Hope." A voice echoed and I made no move to see who it was, surely it was yet another person intent on tormenting me and I was already in enough pain. I laid still on the floor, my head nearly drowning out their voice as they called my name again. I winced as the whining of the metal door opened. A dark figure leaned down beside me and I heard the snap of their fingers before I saw the fire between them. I looked up my vision clearing to see their face. "Hunter?" I asked incredulously trying to pull myself up. He rested his hand of my back before I landed roughly on the ground with already aching bones. "Hold on a little longer." He said wrinkling his dark eyebrows in concern as he looked me over. I looked at him, confused. "How are you here." I asked swallowing as my dry throat felt like it was rubbing against charcoal. Hunter smiled softly and gently helped me lie back down. "Hold on."Was all he said before I blinked and there was nothing.

I laid in the darkness shivering hours after Hunter had came. I had vomited up the rotting food I had been given. I winced when a light shone through  the bars and Simone opened the cell. My blood went cold as he stepped a polished shoe into the dirty ness of my cell. "They've been treating you well." He remarked smirking at my shivering form. My jacket had been taken away from me and I wore almost nothing just a brown sack of a dress and I was barefoot. He inspected the wall beside him before leaning against it, his silky black shirt gleaming from the dim light. "You reek of death." He said casually looking at me. I hissed at him. "And who's fault is that." I snapped. Simone chuckled walking towards me. I quickly sunk into the corner as his eyes were level with mine and he brushed a piece of my red hair behind my ear. "You are exsquite." Simone chuckled darkly pulling away. "Of course you would be  Asherds special." I pulled my arms tight around myself as he looked the room over. "Care for a bath, I would hate for the prize to die." I looked at him puzzled. "You tried to kill me on the beach, what changed." Simone shrugged. "I had to make sure you were Asherds special. When he showed up to save the day my suspicions were confirmed. I wanted to draw it out, have him truly feel the loss." I held my arms closer to me, tears slipping from my face. Of course he would do that, the perfect plan to hurt him. I closed my eyes and jumped as there was pounding and shouting against the door. I sat there baffled as Simone swept me up holding me in front of him, one arm keeping me from collapsing, the other pressing a cold blade to my throat.  I could hear my ragged breathing as the concrete and brick flew open and there was Asherd, dark hair messily in his eyes, which were filled with rage. "Hope." He breathed taking a step forward before he saw the blade and the trickle of blood sliding down my dirty neck. "Let her go." He snapped enraged. Simone laughed pressing the knife deeper into my skin, I winced as it cut deeper. "Stop!" A voice cried. "I looked to see Opal. "Just let her go." Simone shrugged. "Why should I?" Asherd growled, eyes flashing gold. "What do you want?"  Simone grinned. "Give me wings." Simone retorted. Asherd looked at him confused. "You have wings. Simone unfolded his wings and looked at them, the looked reched, shiverled up and feathers gone, gaps in between. "My body is rejecting them." Simone said taking the knife and grazing against the wing.
Asherd shook his head. "It's not my call to get you wings, it is the creator." Simone snorted pressing the knife back to my throat. I winced as the cold metal laid against my throat, an open threat. "For the record I personally ripped them off of a light fallen. They were so screwed up that I had to get a witch to make them anew." Asherds eyes darted to mine and then the knife at my throat clenching his fists. "Just let her go and we can talk about this." Simone laughed bitterly. "Fine, just remember when she dies that it was you who did nothing." Before Asherd could say anything the knife was sliced deep and straight across my throat.
