Chapter 45- To Thee I Wed
I grasped my fathers arm as we stood at the entrance to the chapel. It was apparently a part of the building. My father had been told that If he didn't walk me down the isle that Simone would slit my mothers throat. What a lovely way to start what most people considered the best day of their lives.I didn't have an exact plan about how to stop the wedding but I knew that I would not let I do come out of my mouth.
My father gently rubbed at my arm in an attempt to calm my nerves less. "You should escape while you can." I looked at him shocked. "'Mom would die."
My father swallowed and nodded. "I know my little Hope." My fathers muscular figure snuggly fit into his suit and I knew the only reason he hadn't tried to harm anyone was for fear of my mother and I's safety.
Before he could utter another word the doors were opened and the wedding ballad began.
I felt like my feet were glued to the floor. There were rows of people I didn't recognize, no doubt friends of Simone. "You don't have to do this, I will die if it means you can get away."
A coarse laugh sounded behind me and I stiffened.A cool blade pressed into the back of my dress. "Walk." Nova purred.
I clamped my eyes shut blinking away tears that threatened to fall. My heart beat rapidly and my father took the first step and looked back at me pleadingly. I looked ahead at Simones eyes. They were focused on my lack of movement. I was sure I couldn't do it when two familiar faces found mine. Amy and Opal. They both gave encouraging nods and I swallowed hard.I felt myself shake with each step, my legs like jello. When I reached the edge of the stage; this time it was my father who wouldn't let go.
I turned to him and pulled him into a hug. "It's okay." I mummered softly.
His eyes were glassy and I let my hand slip from his only to be replaced with Simones icy ones.I felt myself numb at the thought of joining him eternally. I was so caught up in it I failed to notice it was time to say I do.
I looked around panicked. "Do you Hope Waters take Simone Cole to be your husband."
I felt terror fill me as Simone waited his eyes narrowing on mine.
I looked to Amy and she pulled on her bracelet and looked down at her wine glass. It was then I knew what had to be done.
I swallowed hard. "I do."
There were gasps in the crowd and I felt like I could crumble as the priest brought between us a metal bowl of wine. "You both shall drink from the cup of blood and become one with the dark fallen."
He placed both Simone and mines hands on the cauldron.
I made sure Simones eyes were locked with mine when I squeezed the charm on my braclet into the bowl. I fought the urge to scratch at my burning skin and I took the first sip before handing it to Simone.
He took a long gulp from it before his face crinkled.I clutched my chest, fighting the urge to cough waiting for his response.
And he dropped the cauldron, coughing like a smoker. His eyes watered and I couldn't fight it any longer as l clutched my chest and let out a wheeze.
People began to move about and soon Amy and Opal were beside me.
I pressed my hand to my chest waving reverently as my breath failed to escape me.I pounded on my chest and looked to Simone. He was clutching the side of the priests podium, coughing shoving anyone
Who tired to come to his aid away.I watched as his eyes met mine and he pulled himself up growling. I swallowed, still choking. It hadn't lasted as long with him as I hoped.
"It's okay, Hope. We are going to get you out of here Ashered will deal with him."I nodded and Simone yelled over the chaotic mass of people. "Who did this?" He boomed. Opal and Amy has already begun to drag me through a side door as this was proclaimed.
Once more
Simones eyes met mine only this time catching me in the midst of leaving. I knew then he knew it was me. The fury that possessed him was worthy of hell.
Nova stood beside him arms holding on to his in effort to aid him.
He shoved her aside, the dark haired girl stumbling back and her enraged expression mirroring his.I pushed the door open as he made his way down the stage and both Amy and Opal grabbed onto to either side of me. We began
To run and I yelped as I was yanked back by the veil.
We had successfully made it out of the church into the courtyard only for Simone to be there."I was going to be gentle with you but now I am going to make you pay.
Opal unsheathed her blade as with one hit Simone sent Amy to the ground. He slapped Novas blade away but she withdrew another.
The boiling anger in him fueled his enragment as he knocked her away sending a kick to her side to keep her down.
I turned to him fearful and before I could blink Simones hand was around my throat. A crowd had begun to form but without missing a beat Simone demanded they leave.I tried to claw at him as he yanked the veil from my head. I yelped and he laughed viciously.
"You don't have any of your abilities as a vampire anymore. That wine was infused with the bonding spell that would be used to break your curse only with me instead of the bastard who has failed to save you." Simones hand aggressively pulled up the hem of my dress. I whimpered, squinting my eyes.
"No." Opal said pulling herself up by her shaking hands.
"Quiet her." Simone ordered his guards.
He began to pull in on the hem of my undergarments when suddenly he was off of me and in his wake was Asherd.
He leaned down to me and covered my exposed flesh pulling me into the knook of his arms. A sob escaped me. "Ashered." I breathed.
He shushed me gently pulling his blade he faced Simone. "You would really stoop that low." Simone growled. His anger flooded through our bond and I thanked the stars it hadn't left. "She is my wife." Simone spat.
Ashered shook his head. " She was forced by you."
I felt light headed and slumped my body into his, sudden pains ailing me. I groaned causing both men to glance at me.
Every part of my body began to ache.
Simones eyes actually looked worried. He took a step forward but Asherd thrust his blade forward. "Another step and I'll end you."I clutched my sides and felt queasy as blood began to spill from my hand, my chest and side as blood began to pool from my mouth,
I coughed wiping my mouth with the backside of my hand. "It's catching up with her." Amy gasped moving to me. She curled my face in her hands and I could see the fright.
"Yes, that is part of it. Didn't you do your research, Ashered." Simone sneered.Asherds gaze found mine before my eyes rolled back in my head.
