prologue: raindrops

Drops of red rain
turn blue with the ocean.
The pain of missing the one who left
makes my clouds cry with tears of dreams,
forming the raindrops
that seep into my heart....

We fly past the sunset
and into the twilight.
His blue ocean follows the moon's white crest,
and we wondered whether the path we were taking was right.

As it grows darker,
the cold brings my wings down to the shore.
We try to light a fire,
but my clouds' raindrops distinguish
every attempt.

Under the moonlight,
raindrops fill the night,
but he's still by my side
after all this time...

but nothing lasts forever.

Summer is here,
and seventh grade will come right after.
We can't stay here forever
by your ocean and my raindrops
under the moonlight that brightens our fire.

It's not like it'll be gone forever;
we're in fact glad it's finally over,
but after a whole year
of finally getting to make some real friends,
I ain't ready
to let it all go....

Those last days
accumulated in drops of red rain-
red with the rubies
that shatter like broken hearts
at the reality of saying goodbye
to friends before the summer-
especially if those friends
are transferring away.

Under the fading moonlight
in my raindrops that hit harder each time,
we both say goodbye to each other
and all our good friends-
both the new and the familiar.

We all part,
and the moonlight finally fades,
replaced by the summer sun.
Don't know whether there'll be more raindrops
or if the signature saucy heat of Texas
will burn and exhaust us to death.

Starting the summer off
as a reborn phoenix
that rose from its ashes
of pain, guilt, regret.
I had hoped I had left that all behind me,
but now I sense that
I still have loads more of pain left to experience...

and there'll probably be
more time to wonder
whether the path I'm taking is right
in my raindrops.
