and wouldn't I love to stay
within the enthrallment of initial view
surrounded by the sweep and flow
of undeniable possibility
willingly trapped
by the constant essence
of unconformed emotion
and wouldn't I love to believe
this gentle rise and fall of chaotic simplicity
is the only reality
that ever need be accepted
the spirit of letting go would embrace me
and I, in return, would lose myself within it
and wouldn't I love to ignore
the space contained within
wouldn't I love to look away
and to forget
the marred expanse of empty
that so draws me away
from idyllic submergence
and wouldn't I love to avoid
the truth, so glaringly obvious
that stares at and penetrates my soul
fringed with faded remains of wholeness
peeling away from the empty space
that would so love to break
the enthrallment of initial view______________________________
This was inspired by An Interlude of Peace, a piece of abstract art by Terry Ward.
I would include a picture of it here, but I can't find one online.
