Ruby's POV

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" My mum and dad screamed, waking me up instantly from my light sleeping. I grinned up at them both, wearing party hands and holding boxes of presents. I sat up, pulling them both into a group hug.

"Thank you!" I exclaimed.

"Open them!" My dad squealed, making me laugh. I loved seeing my dad happy, he was usually so stressed from work whenever I could see him. He hated his job.

I took one of the small boxes from the pile, ripping off the wrapping paper to reveal a long, thin, white box. I carefully took off the lid and was presented with a beautifully shining golden locket. I opened the locket, a small family photo of the three of us was tucked inside, making my eyes tear up, it was beautiful. I looked on the opposite side to find another photo, me and Luke.

"How did you know?" I asked, confused. I hadn't told them about me and Luke being together.

They both smiled, looking at each other and back to me. "Danni came around, we had asked her about another photo idea and she suggested this, telling us about Luke. We thought you would love it." My mum said with a smile.

"It's perfect." I said simply. It was the best way to describe it. "Thank you so much, it really means the world to me." I said, a lump rising in my throat as I hugged them both tightly.

I unwrapped the rest of my gifts, each one meaning so much to me. I felt so lucky. I picked up my phone from my bedside table, switching it on to be presented with tons of messages from friends, wishing me happy birthday.

I thanked each person, they all seemed excited for the party tonight. After reading the general messages from my friends I opened the one from Luke.

'Happy birthday to my Ruby Rubes! When's a good time to FaceTime? X' It said, making me chuckle.

"Thank you Lukey Luke, and now would be fine x' I replied, still smiling from the nickname he had given me.

Within about 5 seconds Luke's caller ID popped up on FaceTime. I quickly sorted out my hair and answered it, seeing all 6 of them piled into shot.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Ruby, happy birthday to you!" They all sang in harmony, making me laugh.

"Thank you!" I laughed as they all grinned at me. "Having fun?" I asked.

"I'm trying but I miss you too much!" Luke whined, making Jai hit him over the head with a pillow.

"Only two days and I'll be out there." I said again, I had mentioned going to my parents and they hadn't exactly said no yet. I was going to ask again so it would be easier to persuade them since it was my birthday.

"Well, we have to go down to the venue soon but have a fun day!" Danni said with a smile.

"Okay, you too!" I replied, blowing a kiss to them. We said our goodbyes and I ended the call, getting out of bed finally to check the mail. I had a couple of cards from family which I opened and happily took the money inside.

I had to get ready early, to go and set up the venue which I would be having my party in. I pulled the long chiffon pale pink dress I had bought out of my wardrobe, laying it carefully on my bed as I closed the wardrobe doors.

I delicately pulled it over my head and into my body, admiring it's beauty in the mirror for a few seconds before moving onto hair. I took out my straighteners, waiting for them to ehat up as I brushed through my hair, making sure it was all smoothed out.

I curled my hair slowly, making sure each curl was perfect until I had finished. Next I moved onto my makeup, following a tutorial on YouTube that I had found step for step, finally finishing my look off beautifully.

I grabbed my pale pink clutch bag, that matched my dress, and slipped in my phone and my lipstick, carefully walking downstairs and into the living room.

"Wow, you look beautiful." My mum said after looking down at my dress and up to my face.

"My gorgeous birthday girl." My dad smiled, stepping towards me.

I smiled down at the floor then back to each of them. "Ready to go to the venue?" I asked them and they nodded.

We hopped into the car, picking up my friends Issy and Yasmin on the way to help us finish setting up the venue.

Issy was wearing a black and cream laced bodycon dress with her blonde hair straightened and Yasmin wore a dark blue maxi dress, accompanied by her natural beach waved hair.

We all hugged on another after we had gotten out of the car, complimenting each others outfits and hairstyles.

"Happy birthday!" Yasmin sung, handing me a few presents and a violet coloured envelope. I thanked her, placing it onto the 'gift table' my dad had set up. Issy also gave me her presents, adding it to the table so I could open them later.

We finished up the final retouches in the room, making it look stunningly elegant, I was so proud of it. We took a couple of photos together before people started to arrive, the feeling of excitement filling inside of me.
