Chapter 46

Luke's POV

"I'll go get some more drinks." Kiana smiled, standing from her seat.

"I'll help," Ruby began before being interrupted.

"No it's alright, I'll go." Jake said, putting his hand on her back before following Kiana to the bar.

I gave Jai "the look" and he knew it was his time to go, if anyone knew about my plans it was him. He flashed us both a smile before leaving to find James and the others on the dance floor.

"It's nice here," Ruby smiled awkwardly, looking around, as she tried to break the awkwardness between us - making me chuckle.

"Not as nice as being with you." I replied with a smirk. Her head shot in my direction as her eyes brightened up, which she tried to mask almost immediately.

"What?" She asked. I looked over to the bar and just about spotted the back of the heads of Jake and Kiana, they seemed to be in a conversation with another couple of people so hopefully that would distract them.

"You heard what I said." I smiled, taking her hand and making her blush slightly as she tried to remain serious.

"You've had too much to drink Luke.." She said unconfidently, surely she didn't think that I didn't mean what I had said.

"I've had one." I corrected her with a laugh, her lips breaking into a smile. "I miss you." I said.

"Well I only live 5 minutes away now silly," She laughed.

"No, I mean I miss us. Me and you, Ruby and Luke, Ruke, whatever you want to call it." I smiled.

"You're with Kiana now, and I'm with Jake." She said, looking down at the table.

"I'm only with her to try and get over you, like you told me to, but I can't. It's been three months and I haven't moved on Ruby. Please tell me you feel the same?" I asked, biting my lip as I awaited the answer.

She just looked at me, not her usual cheerful look, she looked sad. "It's too late, we're with different people now." She said, trying to convince me but I couldn't take that. I wasn't going to give up that easily.

"I'm in love you, not Kiana, you. I can't and I won't give up on us, not again." I said meaningfully.

"Does she even know?" She asked, making my heart sink.

"No, I need to sort us out first. You're my priority." I said before moving closer to her. "I just need to know the truth, how do you really feel?"

She took a sigh before looking back up to me. "I love you Luke, nothing will change that, you've been in my heart for years and you will be for years to come. My mind is telling me not to give you another chance, that I'll just get hurt again, but I have to go with my heart - as long as you promise to me you won't break me again." She said, the weight of the past few days finally being lifted from my shoulders.

I leant towards her before being pushed by the chest. "Not now Luke, I need to end it with Jake first. I don't want anyone else to get hurt." She stated, she was right. I knew for a while now I had to end it with Kiana but I just didn't know how or when, but I guess it had to be tonight or tomorrow latest.

"How do I end it with Kiana?" I asked Ruby timidly, hoping she'd be more open minded than I was.

"Just leave it until tomorrow." She smiled, looking from me to Jake and Kiana which were now returning to the table with the drinks. I couldn't bare to spend another night apart from Ruby after what she had said but I guess the right thing to do would be to wait.

"Come and join us!" Danni called over to us as she headed in our direction, pulling up Ruby and gesturing for the rest of us to follow.

We spent a few more hours at the club, dancing, drinking and having a good time. I felt so happy - partially to do with the amount of alcohol in my system - but also because I knew my my life would get back to how it was a few months ago, or at least I hoped it would.

We called for a cab and drove back to our apartment, Ruby and Jake deciding to stay over in the spare room which was next door to mine - which almost killed me. But I knew this time tomorrow she would be in here with me and we would be happy again, everyone would be happy again.
