Chapter 56

Ruby's POV

I woke up to the sound of my phone by the side of the bed. I unlocked it to see a text from Wayne: 'Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to meet up again today? I had a great time last night x'

"What's making you so happy at this early hour?" Luke asked in his morning voice as he caught me smiling at my phone.

"Just Wayne, saying he enjoyed last night." I smiled. "You're the best boyfriend ever."

"That was random." He laughed, rubbing his eyes as he tried to wake himself up properly.

"It's true. I'm going to go downstairs to get some breakfast, see you down there." I said, jumping out of bed and walking downstairs to hear the voices of Danni, Beau and James.

I waited outside for a minute, trying to listen in to what they were talking about before I went in.

"I can just tell when someone's being fake, he's serious trouble if you ask me." I heard Beau say, but who would be be talking about?

"Beau, he seemed like a nice guy. Maybe he used to have some kind of problem but he's obviously better now. Just at least try to give him a chance and maybe get to know him? For Ruby?" Danni replied innocently. It must be about Wayne.

I was thankful that she was trying for me but a part of me still urged to know why Beau suspected him so much still.

"If he is still a dick, then you get to say 'I told you so'" James laughed, making Danni chuckle along - but I heard nothing from Beau. I decided to go in, maybe he'd open up to me.

I pushed down the door handle and walked in, all of their heads turning in my direction almost in an instant. "Morning!" I chirped with a smile.

Beau shot me the fakest smile before turning around to put his glass in the sink. I had to find out what made him hate Wayne, and me, so much all of a sudden.

"Morning! We were just discussing what to do today," James made up on the spot, obviously trying to cover up their talk about Wayne.

"We could go out shopping maybe? As a group this time." Danni laughed, recalling what had happened last time we split up for the day.

"Sounds good. I'll go and let the others know." I smiled before turning around and pacing upstairs.

"I've invited Wayne to come by the way," Luke grinned, utterly surprising me. It was amazing how hard he was trying to keep me happy and get along with Wayne.

"You could've asked." Beau stated bluntly, causing an awkward silence in the room until Daniel and Danni came in.

"Ready?" Danni said, looking a bit confused at how quiet we were.

"Yep!" James piped up, trying to liven the mood up again as he lead us all out into the hall and out of the front door.

"He's going to meet us on the bus, he's the stop after us isn't he?" Luke asked.

"Yeah," I smiled. We waited for the bus for a couple of minutes before we climbed on.

I sat with Danni as Daniel and James sat in front of us, then Beau and Jai and Luke on his own obviously saving a space for Wayne.

"What's up with Beau?" I asked, hoping to get some answers for his abnormal behaviour.

"I don't know but I hate it. He's just seemed so under the weather recently." Danni sighed. "I think he has something against Wayne."

"I could tell... Maybe it's because of what he did before, but saying that, the others seemed to get over it now that he's obviously changed." I stated.

"Maybe. Hopefully he'll come around soon or I'll have to have a word." Danni said seriously, making me laugh as she reminded me of an angry teacher.

We stopped at Wayne's stop and sure enough, he was there. He shot me a smile and wave before taking a seat next to Luke.

"Not going to lie, he is pretty hot." Danni admitted quietly, making me giggle.

"I know - but don't tell anyone I said that." I chuckled.

"I won't if you don't." She laughed as we stared into the back of Wayne's head before Beau shot a look at us. "Busted!" Danni laughed casually, but I don't think Beau took it too lightly.
