Chapter 54

Ruby's POV

"Are you kidding me?" Luke's voice bellowed through the door as he stood outside of the bathroom. "You met up with Wayne?!" I remained silent, feeling fear as to what he might say if I tried to defend myself.

"It's like you want this relationship to fail again, is my life some sick game to you?!" He shouted, his short temper showing.

"No," I said quietly, not wanting to have a shouting war with him. "Of course it's not, he has changed I promise."

He suddenly thumped on the door loudly, making me jump as he had obviously hit it. It scared me so much hearing such anger come from him.

"He can't change Ruby, he lives for one thing, to ruin lives. Surely you must know that!" He continued with his voice still as loud as before.

"You haven't met him since-" I began, not being able to bring myself to repeat what had happened between Luke and I.

"I just can't believe you would see him again, how can I trust you?" He asked, piercing my heart with his words.

"Because I thought you loved me." I said quietly, silence filling the space between us.

"I do, but doing things like this make it hard for me. Just come outside?" He said through the door. I slowly pulled open the door to see him stood there, a look of sadness in his eyes as he held his arms out to me. We held each other for a few seconds before breaking away.

"I know you've only seen the worst of Wayne, but I've known him for all of my life. I can tell he's serious about this, Luke. He has a new haircut, new clothing and actually looks like a presentable teenage boy." I stated, trying to persuade him.

"Okay, I'll believe you, but if you have any suspicions that he's up to something again you have to stay away from him. Okay?" He asked seriously.

"Okay." I smiled as I hugged him once again. I turned to face the stairs and began walking down as Luke followed me closely behind, now I'd have to tell the others.

"Maybe I could meet him again? Just to be on the safe side?" He asked seriously, which made me laugh.

"Alright then." I replied. "I'll talk to him later about it."

James paced past us from the kitchen into the lounge with the look of utter confusion on his face. "The fuck is with you guys?! One minute you're screaming at each other, the next you're all lovey." He asked as he shook his head and led us into where the others were.

"Yeah, you're the weirdest couple I have ever met." Jai piped up as he joined in with the conversation, making Luke and I chuckle.

"Don't worry about it, I just met up with someone you'll all hate me for meeting up with." I said timidly.

There was a slight pause before Danni finally spoke up. "Who?"

"Wayne. But, he has changed I promise. I know him better than almost anyone so you have to trust me." I stated, not giving anyone the chance to even object.

I peered over to the scowling face of Beau who didn't look to happy about it, though the others didn't seem too bothered after hearing me out.

I heard a slow knock on the door, instantly knowing it was Wayne as I rushed down the hallway. I pulled open the door to see him stood there with a small smile on his face, dressed in an "Of Mice and Men" band tshirt, accompanied by a red flannel and skinny black jeans.

"I didn't know you liked them?" I asked as I eyed his tshirt, shortly after letting him in the house.

"Well, I guess I lost interest in all that rapping shit." He smirked. "Going to introduce me to your buddies then?"

"Of course," I smiled. "This way."

I led him into the lounge where everyone else was, feeling slightly sick as I didn't know what to expect from either side. "This is Wayne." I announced, causing everyone's heads to turn in our direction.

"Alright mate?" Daniel grinned as he stood up to hug him. Well that was a very pleasant surprise. Each of the others did the same, including Luke but excluding Beau which was unusual. I don't think he was happy about him being here yet. But hopefully that would change soon.
