Ruby's POV
I knocked a second time on the door, a bit louder this time as I guessed that he may not have heard the first time.
"Jake? Please open the door." I called, knocking one last time as I began to give up until I saw his silhouette coming in my direction.
He opened the door quickly, his face blank as he stood there looking at me. "You cheated on me, I don't see what else you need to talk about." He said before I even got a chance to open my mouth.
"No, I didn't cheat on you. I would never hurt you Jake, never like that." I said.
"So Kiana lied? It didn't exactly sound like a lie and you were pretty quick to jump back into his arms at the first chance you got." He replied, draining me of positivity as guilt took over.
"I was going to end it with you before I got back with Luke, I've always loved him Jake you need to understand that. None of this was meant to hurt you in any way." I admitted.
"Why am I always second choice? Always the one that gets fucking left behind for the better option." He raised his voice in anger as he kicked the door which made me jump.
"I'm not leaving you behind, I want to stay close friends like we were before, if you'll forgive me?" I tried to persuade him but he still looked hurt.
"I don't mean it like that, it's not just friends that I want in my life, I want someone I can be with and trust." He said sadly, looking at the ground. "But that's obviously just not meant for me, maybe I'm destined to be alone."
"You will find someone, way better than I could ever be. I promise, it'll just take time but it will be worth it." I smiled, trying to brighten his mood.
He nodded, biting his lip. I could tell he didn't believe me by the unsureness on his face but I knew that I was right. "I'll see you around, I'm going back home tomorrow. I just had to crash here tonight." He explained.
"It's fine, thanks for listening to me Jake. See you soon." I smiled as his lips also finally broke into a smile. I was so glad I could make things right with him, falling out with one of my close friends was the last thing I needed right now.

NEXT DAY
~ ~ ~"I'm just going out to do some shopping for a bit," I called into the living room where everyone else was - I had to make up some excuse to leave so I could go and meet Wayne.
"I'll come! Just give me a while to get ready." Danni replied, standing up quickly and making my stomach drop.
"I'd rather leave now to get there early, we can go another day of you like?" I tried to persuade her.
"Don't worry, I'll literally be about 15 minutes!" She smiled back.
"No, I just want to go on my own for today." I said sharply, feeling harsh but it had to be done so I could get out alone.
"Ooooo!" Sounded from around the room, followed by laughter from the boys which made me roll my eyes.
"Shut up!" I said jokingly before heading out of the front door and onto the street, deciding just to walk to the cafe as it was just outside the hotel Wayne had stayed in which wasn't far from the apartment.
I pushed open the heavy glass doors of the cafe and walked in, spotting Wayne at a table in the corner just before he saw me. He stood up and gave me a hug which I awkwardly had to take although I didn't want to.
"Are you alright?" He asked with a smile.
"Not too bad, how about you? What was the hotel like?" I replied.
"It's pretty nice actually," He laughed. "How's Danni these days? I haven't seen her for a while." He asked, it was so strange talking to him like this, I don't think I ever had before. He was really a changed person.
"She's the same old lovely Danni." I smiled. "So, what has really happened?" I said as I inspected the flannel shirt he was wearing, it suited him so much more than his past outfits had.
"Let's just say Rob and his boys beat the shit out of me and left me to nearly bleed to death on the street, I think that's enough detail." He said quietly.
I felt pain inside me as he told me what had happened to him but I still didn't know how I could forgive him. "Well it's nice to see that you've changed, for your own good, but I don't think I want anything more to do with you. You told my boyfriend it was my fault for what happened that day." I stated, my stomach turning at the memories.
"I know but I really am so sorry. I just couldn't help the jealousy but I'm over it now, I've moved on." He said reassuringly.
"Maybe I can try to but I know that Luke won't, we can just stay friends though - not that I'll see you much." I sighed.
"I know but it just means a lot to me that you're willing to forgive me, it just shows that you understand." He smiled. "I'll let you get back to your own life, I need to catch a train soon but hopefully I'll see you soon." He said as he stood from his chair and helped me up, I was surprised at how quickly he wanted our time together to be over.
"Of course, it was nice to talk properly Wayne. I appreciate your apology." I smiled as he took me into a hug again. He smiled as well as we walked out of the cafe and said our goodbyes, maybe now I could finally get on with my life.
