Ruby's POV
The time seemed to fly by and before we new it, it was time for our interview. We headed back to the venue, saying hello to the friendly woman again before being let in to an office style room, connected to another office. We took a seat at the side of the room as we waited patiently to be called in, to be honest I felt extremely nervous even though there was only the two of us.
A tall man, looking to be in his early 40's came through from the back office, a smile lit up his face as he saw us both. "Hello girls, I understand you are both here to apply for a job here?" He asked.
We both nodded politely, waiting for him to take one of us in. "Sorry, I don't know your names." He laughed. "Could I bring you in first?" He smiled at me.
"Of course, my name's Ruby." I smiled as I stood up and followed him into his office, it all seemed to be very informal.
He shut his door and took a seat, allowing me to sit opposite him on the other side of his desk. "So Ruby, I'll be honest with you. This interview is only to get to know you really and whether you're suited to the job or not. We've been looking for a few people your age but not had much luck so far." He smiled, filling me with hope.
"Well, at leat that's reassuring." I laughed.
"Right, I'll get into the details of the job and what it entails. Feel free to ask me any questions." He paused, collecting a few sheets on his desk. "Working backstage will mean welcoming the artists, showing them into the dressing room and around the stage area, helping them with any setting up they ask of you - although that'll be very uncommon as they have their crew to do that."
"It's sounding advertising so far. So will it just be working behind stage then?" I asked, hoping this was the case.
"Yes, the work is pretty simple to be honest and it's your basic payment - at the end of every month." He began.
We continued to discuss the payment and a little more about the job, it all appeared to be as simple as it sounded which was perfect. The job sounded ideal for me. I was offered the job and happily took it, agreeing with him to start my first shift here in two days when an upcoming artist would be performing here.
I left the room, thanking him for the job and flashing Danni a huge smile before she went in for her own interview. This week had just gone uphill ever since we got back to England. I decided to text Luke and tell him the good news.
'Guess who just got a job working at the Shepherd's Bush?! Xxx' I sent excitedly.
The reply was almost instant, making me grin like an idiot. 'No way! Does that mean free concert tickets?! Xxx" He replied, making me laugh.
After another 15 minutes Danni came out from behind the door, a similar grin to my own plastered on her face - good news I think.
"See you girls on Tuesday night then." Our new manager, Chris, smiled. We were both overjoyed!
~ ~ ~
Tuesday came around in the blink of an eye and it was our first day at work, we'd been sent a few emails preparing us of what to expect so we were pretty much prepared.
Danni and I made our way down the hotel hallway, both excited yet nervous about what would be happening today, but I suppose that's only natural. We caught a bus into Shepherds Bush - which wasn't too far, meaning we would save a fair amount rather than catching a taxi everyday.
The bus stopped just a few metres down from the Shepherds Bush Empire so we got out, thanking the bus driver and headed down the road.
"I'm so nervous!" Danni said, keeping her eyes ahead.
"So am I," I agreed. "But I think it'll be fun." I smiled reassuringly.
We got to the venue and headed in the staff entrance which was around the back of the building. We had been given a passcode for the door, so I typed in the numbers and pushed open the door. There didn't seem to be anyone around so we headed down the hall towards our managers office, who was surely enough sat in there. He waved us in and greeted us with a friendly smile.
"Nice to see you made it," He joked, making us laugh a little. "I have your uniforms here in the sizes you requested, but don't feel uncomfortable if it doesn't fit properly - just let me know." He smiled, handing us a dark blue t-shirt and black trousers.
We went into a smaller room to get changed, coming out looking all professional. Danni and I stood together in front of the mirror and took a photo of us in our new uniform. I sent the photo to Beau and Luke, saying 'Fuq Gucci & Dirty Pig, it's all about the Shepherds Bush designer outfit.'
I switched off my phone and slid it into my bag, which was kept safe in a private room for staff's belongings. Now we just wanted the singer to come, we couldn't wait to officially start our job for much longer!
