chapter XXIII: falling

"Why are you here?" My stepmother asked as I sat on the step to the out door training area of the Belladonna house. I was sitting here with my head resting on my knees, watching my team train.

"Fell over, Yang told me to just watch so i didn't get hurt" I mumbled as the samurai joined me in watching my team.

"You what to join your mother and me?" Raven asked stroking my hair, I looked to her and rubbed my cheek against her arm nodding soon after " come on, you'll catch a cold sitting here in this wind" she said standing up and offering me her hand, I looked up at her before taking hold of it and letting her pull me up to my feet revealing the mud splattered on my front from where I smashed into the ground from a particularly bad hit from Blake "Ruby" Raven sighed looking at my muddy clothes as I whimpered looking away in shame.

"Mabye some of Blake's old clothes would fit?" Someone said from behind as I looked towards them being picked up soon after by the cat faunas.

"Oh thank you Kali much appreciated" the samurai said as I held onto her friend letting her carry me off into Blake's room.

"You want to be out there doing what they are doing don't you?" The cat faunas asked as I nodded starting to pull off my muddy clothes until I was in nothing but my thermal undershirt and my boxers, well of course my cloak aswell. "Try this on" the cat said passing me a neatly folded bundle of black fabric.

Though as I pulled the clothes on I took a moment to giggle as I looked into the mirror "this used to be Blake's?" I giggled looking at the cat like pyjamas, giggling at the purple bow that was tied around my neck with a little cat bell dangling from the not.

"I loved to dress her in this" Kali said smiling at me as she pulled my ears up through the top of it's hood, before she sighed picking up a pair of scissors and using it cut a hole in the back of the pyjamas pulling my tail through soon after " there " she said smiling at me as I wagged my tail before I felt a petal roll off my shoulder.

I just quickly pulled on my cloak letting the woman chuckle and took hold of my hand leading me back to my parents. My mother chuckled as she saw me "aww what did she do to you?" She teased pulling me into her arms proactively. "Did the big mean kitty make you look all cute?" She said with her bottom lip stuck out.

I just giggled as she then started to tickle my sides, the two Belladonnas smiled as they watched me and my mother, as I pawed at her giggling every time she fake bit me the cat bell ringing every time I moved. "Alright come here" my stepmother said pulling me away from my mother, laying me back in her arm as she dipped a tissue in water before using it to wipe mud off my face "You messy pup" she teased before setting me next to her away from my mother who was calming down.

"Your mean" Summer pouted as Raven draped her arm over me "anyway I thought you where out training with your team?"

"She was but she fell and Yang told her to sit on the bench" the samurai sighed rubbing my ears.

"Oh, how did you fall?" My mother asked as I pouted

"Blake was a meanie and swepted my leg, and I was just about to tag out Yang too"

"Ah battle tag, I should have known" Raven commented "not as many injuries as Irish snap mind you"

"Yes because broken fingers are not fun" my mother shivered as I rubbed the back of my hand to quell a phantom pain.

"Ho my I didn't realise Raven was such a violent player of a simple game" Kali commented as I blushed knowing what was coming next.

"No Raven is surprisingly tame, it's Ruby who's the most violent player, it's a speed based game and she's very good at it"
