Chapter XXXV: the barren castel

Volume six episode... 5- 6 spoiler

Everything is so... cold? And white? Cold white flaky stuff all over, like the cold white stuff in mantle. But colder and a little darker, I've never felt this stuff before, it slowly fall onto my face while I sat in my own little pile of the stuff by a tree, people muttering behind me as I threw up the flaky bits into the air giggling as they fluttered down like shedded downy feathers. "Let the girl have her fun" a gruff slightly annoyed old voice said as I looked over my shoulder, but ended up flopped back into the white flicking stuff everywhere throwing even more of it up into the air making me giggle more. A small old woman praticaly hobbled over to where I lay happily in the weird cold stuff, using her skull sick she flicked the flaky bits over my face making me squeal and jump up promptly stumbling back and landing on my backside back into the cold fluffy bits. And it didn't hurt! I really like this white cold stuff now.

"Ruby" someone said as I turned my attention to my sister, she had bumblebee? At her side, I haven't seen that bike in forever, not since mummy Raven said that she will crush it if Yang doesn't use it properly "alright come on" she sighed softly holding out her metallic hand for me to grasp squeaking when she pulled me up and pushed me onto her bike "is it just you?"

That's a point, I looked up at the canopy of pine tress and grey skys in thought, I did fall asleep on top of mummy Raven, but I don't know if she was here. I shrugged before rubbing my hands together as the old woman from before pushed herself up onto the back of bumblee.

"Come on, we have to make it to shelter before a storm kicks up" Qrow said to the group of little boy Weiss old woman Yang and Blake, I was in awe as I watched the icy stuff drop to the ground letting my sister push the old woman and me through the flakes. My ears flicked off any little bit that made it's way onto them much to many people's amazement for some odd reason.

But joy filled my face when a portal opened and my stepmother stumbled through, patting flames off her arms "this is new" she commented walking up to me and rubbed my ear making me lean into her hand.

"Hands off!" The old woman said hitting my stepmother's hand with her weird stick "leave her be" she stated watching as I returned my attention to my surroundings.

"Geese fine"she grumbled before starting to walk with us down the path that we where walking, already set out before I came here as it seems. "Where are you going?"

"Don't know don't care, just shelter" Qrow grumbled almost snapping at his sister, but my stepmother just looked at him, her expression hardening.

"Oh" she just said watching as I studied the trees all around "little pup never seen snow before"she sighed making some of the group look at me in shock as I looked back in confusion.

"But it snows every year in patch" Yang said shivering in the cold while I wagged my tail trying to catch flakes with my tounge.

"Not in vale and exspecally not in Beacon" the woman said running a hand through her hair before she jogged up to her brother, pressing her hand against his arm and laying witness to him almost biting it off. "Ok... tence "

"How close has Summer ever come to dieing?" Qrow suddenly asked his sister the question was rather out of the blue. And Raven was almost shocked that her twin asked that.

"Closest? Was fourteen years ago, two years after Ruby was born and they both almost died of starvation" the woman sighed rubbing her head "most recent was seven years ago"

_/] it was a week long mission, just Raven and Summer alone in the forest of brigade, a forest know for its tame manerisums and lack of Grimm, but the duo was only travelling through to their mission site.
