chapter XXII: alternate reality

"I sware you have brain damage from how many times you've hit your head" I heard someone say as I groaned holding my head feeling my ears flatten against my skull. Though as I felt a rough hand touch me I flinched away slightly "err you ok down there kiddo?"

"Oww" I just groaned not at all happy with the throbbing pain, usually someone catches me but this is just mean.

"Uncle I think she's back" I heard a slight monotonous voice say, it was a little shakey and deep but unmistakably Yang's, I opened my eyes and looked at her tearfully as I gripped the back of my head, letting the blond carefully pull me up to my human feet. She watched as my ears flipped up to attention but I just stood there crying and holding my head, leaning on my sister as she held me up.

"What in the world" someone muttered as I drifted my attention to them seeing a dark haired cat faunas watching me with eyes open wide, but I then hissed in pain as someone brought a cold thing up to my head, for some odd reason I couldn't even activate my aura.

"Sit her down, she could faint again" Jaune commented comining into view and passing my sister a tissue who then used it to dry my eyes.

"I don't think she will but it would be a good idea" Yang sighed slightly annoyed but she did slowly pull me back onto a chair as Weiss reaviled herself as the one who was holding a cold towel to my head.

"What is going on!? Why is Ruby a faunas?" Blake asked making me yelp and jump away at the shouting.

"Keep your voice low and we'll explain" Weiss muttered as Yang continued to wipe away my tears.

"She's not Ruby right now, we don't know why or how but she just sometimes changes almost passes out and starts panicking or frieking when she wakes" Yang sighed as I just rested my head on her shoulder "the ears are new, but she says she's always had them"

"Oww" I groaned again feeling another cold thing press against the back of my head. At that I just held my hand watching as it flashes red weakly showing me that my Aura really isn't liking me today.

"Could you try healing your head?" Yang asked me pointing to the back of her own head to emphasis, but I just shook my head a little.

"Aura weak" I mumbled as my sister just nodded her head.

"That's ok then, you can just stay there for a bit" she said letting me rest against her before I jumped when Nora sped round the corner.

"Oh she's back" she then said before going "we gotta be really quite" She said dramatically creeping around the room making me giggle as she then poked her head over the back of the chair "can I stoke your ears?" She asked with a smile giving me doe eyes. I giggled again and nodded moving my head slightly for her to gently rub my ears "they're so soft" Nora whispered.

"Be careful" Ren commented as Nora saluted before she jumped over the chair watching as I shuffled up to my sister as she sat next to me.

"Eye eye captain!" Nora cheered is I watched her closely, it was weird being in this place with these people. They were all so familiar but they are so different.

"I need to get up"yang grunted as she tried to sit up, just as I gripped on tightly to her jacket "two minutes" the blond said as I nodded letting go before quickly grabbing onto a pillow and hugging it close finding it as a suitable replacement as my sister walked off.

"Are you ok?" Blake asked after having a conversation with Weiss, I nodded leaning against Nora's hand as she petted my ears. I looked to Blake as she thought "is something wrong?"

"Why would something be wrong?" I asked as Ren walked up to me with a cup of water, I smiled at him before drinking it in a few gulps before I Finally realised just how thirsty I am.
