chapter XXXIX: the mission planning

"Summer!" Ozpin shouted making me flinch and shuffle back in my chair, Watching as the headmaster stood up and slammed his hands on his desk.

"No and that's final, you are not going on that mission, and that's the end of it" my mother glared at me until Ozpin took hold of her cloak and pulled her away.

"It's her decision it's her team!" He shouted while I just sat there and watched absolutely terrified. "Ruby go find Raven" Ozpin then said as I nodded almost sprinting out of the room, and down the elevator.

"What's wrong?" A heavy voice asked as I looked up at a blue eyed blond man his face scrunched up in concern.

"People are shouting" I whimpered covering my ears watching as the man chuckled softly before looking around.

"Lets go somewhere that's quite then" he whispered offering me his hand I smiled letting him bring me out to the school gardens "shall we go lay down on the grass?" He asked as I nodded laying down next to him as he rested on his back.

"Mummy is being mean" I whimpered to him feeling his large hand lay on top of my head.

"How is she being mean?" He asked softly rubbing my hair.

"She saying my team can't go on a mission because of my leg" I whimpered as he then looked at the new silvery metal prostectic.

"Isn't it as good as new?" He asked trying to lift the mood but I whimpered nodding and curling up. "Can you fight with your leg?" I nodded again, "have you killed... gr- Grimm with your leg?" He asked slightly shakily as I nodded.

"It's just a three day mission" I mumbled "and Mummy Raven and daddy are gonna be there and she's being so mean and saying no!"

"Well where is she now? Mabye I could talk to Raven and she could talk to your mother" he suggested.

"Headmast is talking to her" I muttered feeling him ruffle my hair before pushing himself up.

"Then I'll go talk to Raven and she will go talk to your mother" he said helping me to my feet "do you want to come with?" I nodded at that and let him lead me through the corridors where he believes my stepmother is.

Once she was found I praticaly rushed to her "Ruby?" She asked pulling me into her arms "what's wrong sweetheart?" She asked rubbing my back before looking up to TaiYang who just stood there.

"Summer apparently isn't letting her team go on a mission because of her prostectic" he informed making my stepmother growl lowly.

She softly kissed my forehead while rubbing my back "She's been saying the same thing over and over all week" she huffed "ill go talk to her, if Ozpin will have it" she then sighed holding my body close.

"I believe that will be best" TaiYang said reaching for me.

"No I'll give her to Qrow" she then shot down lifting me up "I assume Ozpin sent you out?" She asked as I nodded "they where shouting weren't they?" Nod "did Summer shout at you?" ...nod, that made Raven angry "right I need to talk to her"

"What shall I do?" The blonde man asked making my stepmother think, she scratched her head for a second before she stood up putting me in her leather chair and rubbing my ears.

"Stay with her, I'll message Qrow if he's not here in ten minutes... behave" she sighed in deep thought while I looked up at her before she crouched down "I'll sort this out pup, mummy might just be tired, you can just sit here and play" she muttered switching on her laptop "your such a good girl Ruby, such a good girl, you can play and get lots of sweets later. And your so strong you can fight so hard and don't let Summer tell you otherwise" she reassured rubbing my shoulder and then holding open her arms "hugs and kisses and then I have to go" I giggled happily rapping my arms under hers as she pressed her lips against my head. "Alright pup, I'll see you in a bit"
