T.W. Minor Mentions of Abuse. (Nothing explicit. Just stated.)

Roman looked at the board in his room, the rules he had to follow to keep up his act, to make sure no one saw through it, to make sure he had more power. He wasn't about to lose his title, the most popular male, with his group of friends.

Of course, he was crushing on someone, and that someone was the complete opposite of him in terms of social status, but that didn't phase him, the idea of the social pyramid was annoying to him, but he wasn't about to lose everyone he was close to.

Rule #1: You gotta have fun.

He had fun on a daily basis, but today would be more fun. He was about to talk to his crush, not that his friends knew that. He didn't want to lead him on, but he had to for the sake of his friends. The game was to see who could be with the worst possible person without getting attached. Too late.

Rule #2: Don't get attached.

Roman was already attached, but he didn't know why he didn't speak up and ask for someone else. Maybe it was because if he did, they'd think of him as a coward, and he didn't want to be labeled as that.

Rule #3: Wear your heart on your cheek.

He had to suppress his emotions for too long, he was terrified, and he didn't know what to do. He wanted to confess to Logan, and really confess, but the idea of it sent his stomach into knots, and he didn't think he could handle it.

Rule #4: Gotta be looking pure.

He has to make sure he looks good and makes himself look innocent like the entire thing wasn't planned, and he wanted to make it seem spontaneous, even if it would raise suspicion.

He double checked his appearance, a red and black plaid shirt, over a white t-shirt with the word "Prince' in gold lettering, and a black pair of jeans, with his black and red checkered converse. He liked the outfit, but for whatever reason, he didn't wear it often.

He stood with his friends, watching Logan down the hall, he sighed sadly, and gripped the ends of his shirt, trying to slow his heart rate.

"You gonna ask him, or are you gonna chicken out again?" His friends snickered, and he shot them a glare.

"Excuse me, but I have made these relationships last longer than any of you, and I have gone further than any of you." It wasn't something he was proud to admit, but to his friends, it was some sort of accomplishment. "And, if anyone is the chicken, it's Mick, he's not 'been' with anyone for months now."

"Because, unlike you guys, I actually care about how I make other people feel, and I would rather not hurt anyone, and I have my eyes on someone." He retaliated, and Roman scoffed.

"Like I don't!" Roman managed out. He'd never tell them who, but it didn't matter, they didn't need to know, it was his business and his business alone.

"Oh yeah?" Ash snickered. "Who?"

"Like I'd tell you." Roman rolled his eyes, making a point to glance at the group of girls across the halls. "You seem to think I don't have feelings, so why would I tell you who I like?"

Ash followed his gaze and glared at Roman. "If it's any of them, you have no chance. Kelly determines everything."

"So? I have more of a shot than you." Roman spat back, turning his gaze back to Ash, a fire dancing in his eyes.

"Are you going to deal with the nerd, or do I have to remind you of what happened last time?"

Roman cringed and wrapped his arms around his abdomen. The last time he'd not done something for Ash, he'd been beaten so bad he couldn't walk for a few days. That was something he'd rather not go through again.
