"I can't believe my best friend's my dad." Patton smiled at his future son, pulling Virgil into a warm embrace which he returned almost immediately. "Do you really have go?" He mumbled into his Dad's shoulder, not wanting to let go just yet. Patton sighed, glancing back at the time machine. "Unfortunately, kiddo."
He let go of Virgil who looked like he was about to cry. Patton's future self stood next to his son and gave him a hug, squeezing his little arm. Virgil hugged his Dad's waist. Future Patton gave kisses on his head until he stopped crying. It broke normal Patton's heart. "I'll see you at the adoption center in 11 years." He smiled weakly at the emo who returned it, still not letting go of his father's waist.
Patton started to enter the time machine but before he could his future husband stopped him. "Wait..." Patton turned around to see Logan with a genuine grin on his face. "Before you go, there's something you should know..." Patton took a few steps towards the intellectual who remained silent for few seconds before speaking.
"I am, always right. Even when I'm wrong, I'm right." Patton furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, looking to his future self for guidance. Future Pat smiled at his husband lovingly before turning to his younger self. "He's right." He walks over to him and crouches down so they are on the same level and whispers. "I'd just go with it if I were you. Which I am."
Patton grinned as his future self received a kiss on the cheek from his husband. He hesitantly entered the time machine, looking back as the glass double doors closed. Virgil ran over and put his hand on the transparent door. "Please... don't forget us, dad." Patton smiled and put his own hand on the glass so it gave the illusion their hands were actually touching.
"Never would dream of it, kiddo." Virgil stepped back and his father pulled him back into a embrace, Virgil going back to hugging his waist. Logan walked over and future Pat wrapped his arm around his shoulder while Logan hugged his chest. Past Patton felt he was about to cry as he turned around and activated the time machine, waving to them as he left.
He whipped a stray tear from his eye and waited to arrive back to the present. Patton opened his eyes after not even realizing he had closed them. He was lying on his back staring at his school hall's ceiling. He glanced to his left and saw his teacher kneeling down beside him. She was crying but stopped when she noticed he was awake.
"Oh, thank the heavens! You're alive!" Patton pushed himself up onto his elbows, hurting his injured back in the process. He winced. "B-barely.." He began coughing. His teacher gave a look of genuine sympathy. "Don't try to stand up, I'll carry you to the sick bay." Before Patton could object, the teacher picked him up and began to leave the auditorium.
"What happened?" Patton asked, rubbing his head as he attempted to remember for himself. "We were having our science fair presentations when you knocked into an experimental rocket prototype and accidentally activated it. You got knocked out and the rocket began speeding into walls and displays, never losing it's momentum." The teacher sighed.
"It would have so interesting if it wasn't so dangerous. We evacuated all the students, thankfully only one got hurt, besides from you, of course. The rocket finished it's rampage though the principal's office wall." She gestured with her head to her right where firemen were attempting to remove the rocket from the poor lady's wall. She appeared so distressed and they both offered her a look of empathy.
"You were only out cold for about 30 to 45 minutes. Don't worry." Patton sighed sadly, looked at the ground. "So it's my fault? And someone else got hurt..." She immediately shook her head, rounding the last corner. "No, honey. The rocket should not of even able to be activated in the first place. The owner has been punished accordingly. Nothing to bad, mind you."
