Roman was a prince of a well known kingdom, everyone knew that. Everyone also knew that he was married to beautiful princess named Valerie.

Again, pretty basic information. But there was a thing no one knew about him, he didn't love his wife, at least not in the way he was supposed to.

He was instead in love with a demon of fear. That was unacceptable as it is but made more absurd when you consider that said anxiety demon was a Male, or at least had a form identifiable to a human as a dude. Roman kept this secret to himself as well as their meetings.

The only people who knew were his royal advisor who just knew everything, his father who was gay so well and of course, Val. Yes, Valerie was fine with it when she found out infact, she consented. Roman was so glad she was his wife, well, fake wife.

It became a routine. Roman and Valerie running the kingdom but when it becomes night, Roman sneaks out to the woods and into their meeting place. It's more tradition then routine when you realize they have doing it since Roman was eight. The marriage was just an added variable.

It was ten PM. Roman and Valerie had divorced about a week ago and didn't tell anyone, not Logan or Patton. Why? Roman wanted to just be with the one he loved and who loved him and he was giving up his throne to do so. He knew Patton and Logan would try to convince him not to, especially, the latter but he needed to do this.

And he knew Valerie would support him. "Are you sure you wanna do this?" Valerie asked, peaking over his shoulder as he finished writing his farewell letter to Logan and Patton. Roman smiled at her. "Of course! I want to seal our love forever! Also, this way you can find a husband who loves you!"

Valerie laughed, covering her mouth so no one could hear. Roman stood from the chair, handing Valerie his trusted sword. "Here's my 'assassination' weapon. Remember, you're pretending to kill me at 11am tomorrow." She nodded, the smile not leaving her face. They said their final goodbyes and Roman left the castle.

He scaled the walls he had crossed everyday since he was a child and headed to the beautiful clearing that was his second home. As he finally arrived, he saw Virgil sketching the night sky. "Hello my demon darling~" Virgil looked up and smiled, patting the spot on the grass next to to him which Roman took.

"Hi Princey." He purred, shutting his sketchbook and leaned his head on his boyfriend's shoulder. The demon closed his eyes in contentment as Roman began to play with his hair. "Ain't your Princey anymore..." Virgil's burst wide open at that. "Wait, what?" Roman sighed, pulling Virgil onto his lap so they were making eye contact. "Virgil, I'm not a prince anymore."

"What did you do?" Virgil frowned. Roman laughed before taking the box from his pocket. "I gave it up so I could be with you." He revealed it, not caring that he wasn't on one knee. "Virgil, I love you more than I could possibly describe. Will you marry me?" Virgil gasped before starting to cry. Roman freaked out.

"Why are you crying?" Virgil laughed while the tears continued to pour from his eyes. "I'm happy! Of course I'll marry you, idiot!" Virgil engulfed the ex prince in a hug. Roman sighed in relief as he returned the embrace. They stayed like that for a while before picked Virgil up and started spinning him around in the air. "Roman, put me down!"

"Never! You're mine!" Roman brought him closer as they continued to spin and they kissed. They got dizzy after a while falling onto their backs in the grass.

They would deal with the consequences later but for right now, they were happy and at peace. A kinda happily ever after, at least for a while longer.
