Warnings: Homophobia and toxic religious people and morals, specifically Christians. I don't actually see Christians in this light and I'm sorry for portraying them this way.
Some of my actual opinions on religion slipped though a bit so if you read something that sounded quite weird then that's probably some of my very controversial opinions coming through. If you're religous, I'd suggest not reading, Christian or otherwise.

Logan always followed the rules his strict Christian parents enforced upon him. He never questioned the judgment of them or really thought over their actions from an outside perspective since he was taught at a young age that adults were always correct.
It wasn't only his parents he had always to, there was his teachers and other Christians in his church. They were all rather fond of him, not because he was funny or his massive intelligence but because he always did as he was told. They just liked feeling superior to him. No one really liked him for... him, well, except for one.
Patton.
Despite not having any sort of religion or really any sort of guidelines to the correct moral path, Patton was a great person. He was kind and compassionate for no reason what so ever. Logan respected him for it. That's why he kept Patton around because he was genuinely a good friend, yes... friend.
Just a friend.
We'll get back to Patton later. Everyone thought that Logan was the perfect example of what a Christian teenager should be like. But he wasn't, or not if they really knew him.
Logan didn't really believe in the religion he was raised in. On the contrary, he really believe in a ultimate creator of earth in the first place. It just seemed to far fetched or contradictory to him. Being Atheist was not the only thing he hid from the world. His other carefully hidden secret was that he was attracted to his own gender.
Specifically speaking, Patton.
If Logan could have changed any thing about himself, it would have been his sexuality. He knew how they would react if any of his fellow Christians knew, they would not be accepting by any stretch of the word.
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."
It wasn't as the hypothetical punishment for making such a claim had been at all subtle. If any of them found out, they all immediately disown him. Logan obviously wasn't keen on such an outcome so he promised himself to keep up his false persona of being perfect, for his sake and theirs.
The only thing that gave Logan hope of ever being accepted into any sort of family type of scenario was Patton. Openly gay, father figure. The pieces seemed to fit together so perfectly, even the fact that Patton found Logan's stoic nature charming made Logan believe Patton had some sort of romantic attraction towards him.
Of course, it could all be in his head but it wouldn't hurt to ask right? Patton was an understanding and accepting person, surely he wouldn't be mad. Even with that possibility, Logan was willing to take the risk.
The two were sitting on a grassy cliff, both overlooking the night sky. Their only source of light coming from the moon and the subtle glow of the stars. They had been completely silent the entire time since Logan had arrived, just sitting in content, comfortable silence. Just thinking with company, well, at least Logan thought they were.
"Logan?" Eventually, Patton's voice cut though the air as he spoke softly, bringing Logan's attention back to his comrade. Logan turned his head to face him, unable to hide the normally difficult to receive treasure that was his smile.
"Yes Patton?" Patton lifted his shoulders slightly in distress. He closed as he took a breath. When they opened once again, he had a sad expression present on his face. He opened his mouth slightly and sighed before finally speaking.
"I'm honestly surprised you came, I mean after your mum found out we'd been hanging out together, I thought you were avoiding me." He broke the eye contact, looking off of the cliff the two boys and pulling his legs up to hug them.
Logan's eye lids lowered and his mouth opened slightly, giving a look of empathy. He turned his eye line to his fingers intertwined politely.
"At the time, I considered it." Patton glanced up at him, brimming in his tears. Logan knew if he looked at Patton he would actually as well, taking extra precautions to avoid his gaze as he glanced to his left. "But you're too important to me..."
His eyes closed in thought, leaning back while using his left arm to prop himself up. Patton's eyes widened in surprise.
"I... am?" Logan could practically hear the disbelief in the normally relatively secure boy's voice. Patton... didn't know Logan appreciated his company. That thought made the normally emotionless teen's heart figuratively
break in thousands of glass pieces. He tried not to step on said metaphoric glass as he searched himself for a perfect response. "Of course! I love you too much to let my mother remove you from my life." Logan didn't even register the pretend pain as he stepped on the glassy remains of his heart until Patton pointed it out.
"You... love me?" Patton felt his cheeks heat up to a temperature he didn't even realize was humanely possible. Logan knew his cheeks turned a deep crimson as well, turning to meet Patton's eyes.
He was embarrassed.
Not just at the realization at what he said and it's implications. He finally noticed how much Patton's pale skin contrasted to dark sky as well as how well the moon illuminated his freckled cheeks, enhancing the most breathtaking features of Patton's face.
Logan felt the air temporarily get trapped in his lungs as his breath hitched. "I uh... y-yes." He stuttered out, barely audible. Despite that, Patton still heard, his eyes glued open and his face on an angle with an expression that showed that he hadn't processed it yet.
Logan immediately felt guilty for assuming he felt the same infatuation towards him just because Patton had come out as gay to him. "I'm sorry, I know just because you like gu-" Logan felt his tongue get metaphorically tied as Patton suddenly seized Logan's jaw in his hands.
Patton smiled brightly, all doubt vanished in his soft voice. "Logan. I love you too." Logan blinked as face flushed to even hotter temperatures. Patton laughed as Logan subtly-nososubtly glanced at Patton's lips and back to his eyes.
Before Logan knew it, Patton gently brought their lips together in a tender and loving kiss. Logan didn't
hesitate in the slightest to return the warmth, the broken glass pieces of his heart pieced itself. Logan didn't care if anyone approved, Logan didn't care if he was breaking the rules. All he cared about was Patton.***
1111 words.
Lol, again carried away. I LOVED THE BITS THAT MENTIONED THE GLASS HEART AND I DON'T KNOW WHY.
