Logan and Patton walked around the narrow path of the cavern in silence. There wasn't much to talk about since Logan had gained a human form and had no personality what so ever when he was a piece of programming so he couldn't be anything besides from being smart and sassy which wasn't great for conversation. Not that they really needed to talk anyway, they just needed to find Roman and get out of there.
Logan noticed that was some loose rubble and quickly warned Patton of it. "Watch out!" Patton immediately closed his eyes, preparing for impact. Still nothing. He could hear the rubble falling but nothing hit him. He hesistatly opened his eyes and nearly gasped in shock. Logan was shielding Patton's body with his own, actively protecting him from the falling debris.
A sudden unwelcome spread across Patton's face, coating his cheeks an unwanted crimson colour. "Are you alright, Patton? Patton?" Logan looked back to see Patton helpless against the wall of the cavern. A strange warmth seemed to spread across his cheeks at the sight. What was with that increased heartrate that padded aggressively against his ribcage?
Logan hadn't felt anything like that before. It wasn't entirely unpleasant but it wasn't exactly an enjoyable sensation. Perhaps he was simply malfunctioning from the rocks hitting his back. Logan had never experienced being in control of a human form in his entire life as a piece of programming.
He couldn't comprehend why seeing Patton vulnerable against the wall under his gaze between his arms would make his heart beat so much faster or his cheeks hot. Patton, however, was not in such oblivious bliss. He was aware of the reason his heart was pounding against his chest. The rubble had stopped by then but Logan's hands still rested on the wall of the cavern beside both sides of his heads.
They searched each others eyes for moment, not daring to speak. Patton shallowed as he subconsciously leaned in. Before Logan could fathom what was happening, Patton pressed his lips to Logan's own. He pulled back after quickly realizing what he had done."Uh, sorry! I don't know what to come over me!" Patton berated himself internally with the word stupid echoing in his mind.
Logan took a hand off the wall placing a finger to his lip, them feeling a little tingly. Patton had brought his lips to Logan's own? Why exactly? Perhaps it was a human gesture of some kind that Logan wasn't aware of. If that was the case, it was certainly a strange one and not one he understood entirely, or at all, at that point in time.
The explanation escaped him as to what exactly it meant and, like most things, it bothered him endlessly about what it meant. Logan had never seen anyone else do it so perhaps it was a family thing? But if that were true, why was he embarrassed? "Logan?" Patton asked softly. He noticed his visable confusion on Logan's face and could see how hard his brain was working.
Logan looked at him again at being called upon, searching Patton's face for answers to his slient questions. He took hold of Patton's shoulders, face completely stone cold showing Patton he wouldn't back down without an answer. "What was the meaning of the gesture you gave me?" Patton flushed at the question. Logan didn't know what kissing meant and he wanted Patton to explain it.
Patton couldn't explain it, he'd die from embrasment if he tried.
"O-oh a kiss! It means I lo- I care- uh... I guess it means... I like you, Logan." Patton shrugged, trying to act natural like he wasn't freaking out. Logan nodded in understanding and decided to try something. Logan slowly pulled him and brought their lips together, Patton nearly gasping into the kiss. He kissed back after getting over his shock, Logan smiling into the kiss which was rare indeed.
Logan pulled away with a smile still on his face. Patton felt the air get knocked out of him. "I like you too, Patton." Logan smiled shyly, unknowingly brushing their noses together. Patton shakily took a breath. He had always wanted to Roman's forever partner, his final love if you will, and he felt he would wait a thousand years until he could fulfill the task he had set himself from a very young age.
He had never questioned any sort of romantic feelings for anyone else before. But the feeling of Logan's cold lips on his made him consider maybe Roman wasn't his final love. He knew that Logan didn't return his feelings as he didn't know what they were or even what kissing was. It barely mattered in his mind. All the mattered in his mind was how right it felt for Logan's lips to move against his.
He had a lot to think about when this adventure was over.
