Book 2 of 'My Mom Is Who?'
Cody's journey continues, and it's filled with more ups and downs than before. Follow her story as she juggles life with relationship drama, work, addiction and having a famous soccer player for a mom, all while transform...
"I have nothing to say to you, Jack." I tell my so-called best friend and turn to leave when she stops me. After she turns me around, I spot my mom and Hope standing near the elevators, watching us intently.
"Please Cody?" I avoid making eye contact as I hear the desperation in her voice.
"No." I rip my hand from her grasp, remaining defiant. "You said all you needed to say after our roadtrip-"
"That's not fair, you said shit too and I'm not acting like a brat." She spits, but I can see the regret on her face immediately.
"No, you just acted like a fucking-"
"Okay, kids!" Alex interrupts. Luckily for Jack. "Why don't you have this conversation somewhere more private? And not in the middle of the hotel lobby." I shrug myself out of my mother's hold and take a step backwards.
"There's nothing more to be said. Stay the fuck away from me, Jackie."
Jack
"Jackie?" I whisper as I watch my best friend walk away, helpless to stop her. "Fuck. She really hates me." I breathe out, oblivious to the sad looks of pity I'm given by Alex and Hope.
"I wouldn't worry about it, Jack. She just needs time to cool off." Alex pats my shoulder before leaving in the same direction as Cody.
"I've never seen her this angry before, mom." I turn to Hope, who simply wraps me up in her arms. "I've messed everything up."
"What happened with you two?" She asks, pulling away from me to get a clear look at my face as I wipe the tears running down my cheeks.
"I don't wanna talk about it...not yet." I mumble, facing in the direction that my best friend left, hoping that she would just come back.
"Dating Cody is hard, huh?" Not registering the new voice, I pivot to see Kristie beside me, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Fuck off, Mewis." I grumble, glaring at the pro. "And we weren't really together. Technically." I add, giving Hope a small nod as she walks away, letting her know I'm fine.
"Don't act like a bitch, Jack. I'm just stating a fact-"
"Nobody asked you." An Australian accent cuts her off before I have the chance. "Stop talking out your ass, especially about my friend." Ellie glares at the pro who throws her hands up in surrender before she leaves and I'm left with my ex.
"Um...hi." I greet her, pathetically.
"Hello Jack." She smiles, resulting in me smiling back. "I'd like to catch up, but I have to grab my kitbag and meet up with Emily and Steph."
"It's okay, it was nice seeing you. You look great." I accept the hug my ex offers, even if it was extremely awkward.
Tobin
"Wait, so you're saying yes?" I ask the defender as she sits with Ashlyn at our table.
"I am. If you're absolutely sure that you're going through with this. Then...of course I'd give up my rights. We have to tell Cody why, so that she understands." I nod in agreement, the last thing I want is to upset Alex's daughter because it would put me in the hotseat with my girlfriend and I need Alex in a good mood for what I have planned.
"Are you sure though, Tobs?" Ash asks, breaking her silence on the subject.
"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
"No need to get defensive, Heath. I'm just asking. Becoming Cody's guardian is a big deal, you'll be her other mother. Alex will expect you to stand up when the time comes, and drop everything for her daughter if something happens."
"I get that, Ash, but I love Alex and I love Cody. I'd do anything for them, and I'm well aware that they're a package deal." I respond, only to be met with grins from the couple in front of me.
"Hey guys, babe." Alex greets us as she sits beside me, kissing my cheek as she sends a smile to Ash and Ali. "What are you talking about?"
"The World Cup."
"Sharks." Ash and I answer at the same time, making Alex suspicious, but thankfully she drops the subject when Ali shakes her head to say 'don't even ask'.

I'm lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling when Jordan decides to waltz in, followed by Daniëlle and Kim.
"Aww, it's our little Rookie!" Daniëlle cheers as she jumps on my bed and lays down beside me. I glance around our room.
"This sounds like the start to a joke." I mumble.
"What do you mean?"
"An American woman, an English woman, a Dutch woman and a Scottish woman are all in a hotel room'." I elaborate, only Jordan and Kim laugh, while Daniëlle seems confused. "Nevermind." I tell her, patting her head. I only stop when she lays her head on my shoulder after I sit up.
"Jokes aside, what happened with Jack?" Jordan asks, taking a seat on her bed next to Kim.
I spend the next half hour catching my teammates up on my teenage drama, and they all seem to understand. I'm happy, and relieved, when none of them make jokes about it, they're all Captain material in their own ways.
"Not that I don't love your company - I do - but why are you two here? Shouldn't you be training?"
"It's an off day for Scotland, and I wanted to see you two. I'm under orders from Hope to keep an eye on you, and I don't intend to get my arse kicked by a pissed off Hope Solo. I don't know why she's here though." Kim admits, pointing at Daniëlle who just smiles and shrugs.
"I was bored."
Kristie
"How is training going?" I ask my sister, who is sitting across from me, beside Syd.
"It's gruelling. Jill is-" Sam begins, only stopping to scan the small cafe we're in for any sign of Jill. When she doesn't see her, she continues, "A massive b-"
"Hi ladies." Jill greets us, and I choke on laughter at Sam's expression before greeting Ellis, even if I'm salty that she didn't pick me for the roster.
"I heard Cody's here." Syd begins, steering the conversation. "And Jack."
"Aren't they dating?"
"They're not." I interrupt immediately, both of their heads snapping to me. "What? Jack told me."
"You've talked...with Jack?" Syd asks, with a serious tone of disbelief, and slight confusion.
"I did. I seen her in the lobby after she had an argument with Cody." I shrug, not seeing anything major about talking with Jack.
"Are you gonna make a move?" My sister asks, crunching on a leaf of lettuce.
"Fuck no. She's impossible."
"Wasn't it you that fucked the whole thing up?" Syd asks, raising an eyebrow and clearly not believing a word I say about not being able to stand Cody.
Daniëlle
"Ball, ball!" Lieke snaps, demanding possession as the opposition defenders close in. It's only a training session but I admire her dedication, and competitive spirit. I drop the ball back, and make a run to distract the last two defenders, letting Lieke have a straight run through to the goalkeeper. She scores, of course, and shows her gratitude by jumping into my arms.
"Great pass, Daan!"
Our training continues through the afternoon, from the field to the weight room.
"I heard the Arsenal Rookie is here. Her mom is Alex, yes?" Lieke asks, settling into a rhythm on the treadmill while I work on my core strength.
"Yes, and yes. I seen her earlier." I pause to change my position before I continue talking with my National teammate, "And stop calling her 'The Arsenal Rookie', her name is Cody."
"Oh, she has a name?" Lieke smirks at me. "What is she like?"
"She's funny, sarcastic, annoying - like you."
"I mean when she's on the field, asshole." Lieke glares, slightly offended but she tries not to show it.
"I hear she's good. I didn't get a lot of time to watch her play, I had to come here.." I admit, but I am eager to see the teen play, and to suit up alongside her. I've only known her for a few weeks but we already get along well.
"You like her?"
"I don't really know her, Lieke"
"That wasn't a no."
"It wasn't a yes."
