I stare at the hotel door, internally screaming and cussing my mom and her friends. I can't believe they would set us up like this, and make me worried about my mom in the process.
"Um...hey." Jack mumbles, clearly feeling uncomfortable. In all the years I've known her, I've never seen her like this. She's usually the confident one. On the other hand, I'd feel uncomfortable too if I wasn't so mad. "Cody...I get that you're mad, but they're right. We need to talk this out."
"There's nothing to talk about, Jack." I spit out, my mind rushing back to Idaho.
"Of course there is." She steps forward, trying to take my hand in hers, only for me to pull away. "Cody, please."
"No. You were the one person I always thought would be honest with me, and never hurt me-" I begin through teary eyes.
"I know, and I'm sorry." I listen as Jack's voice breaks. "But I never lied to you. I meant it when I said I like you, Cody."
"Just not enough to date me, I get it. You don't want to try long distance. We've been through this before, Jack, there's nothing else to say." I try and leave, but the door won't budge. "Fucking...seriously?" I punch the door in frustration.
"Yes, seriously! Now talk!" I hear Kelley yell on the other side of the door.
A heavy silence takes over, one that refuses to shift.
"Cody, there's something I need to tell you." Jack gains my attention and I turn around to face her, knowing I'm not getting out of this room anytime soon.
"What?"
"I...uh, I did lie...when I said I like you." She tells me, taking a deep breath before she takes a single step forward. "I thought it was the right thing to do, to tell you that we shouldn't date and that long distance would only ruin our entire friendship...but it turns out I did that myself. I hate not talking to you, Maxi. I hate it when you ignore me, when you don't even glance at me...I hate it when you're angry with me because all I ever want to do is make you happy. I want to be the reason you smile, not the reason you cry. I want to be the reason you laugh." She closes the distance between us, only stopping when she's inches from me and all the anger I felt before suddenly vanishes. "Cody, I'm falling for you."
I study her face, I know she's not lying. She looks so vulnerable with tears threatening to spill from her eyes. She's waiting for me to speak, but I have no words. When I don't say anything, she squeezes her eyes tightly shut, the tears finally spilling as her head drops. She clears her throat and takes a step back.
"Uh, Kel-"
I cut her off with a long, slow kiss. One that portrays all the feelings that I can't verbally communicate with her, and I hope to God that she understands. The kiss deepens when my best friend's hands rest on my waist, and my own hands get lost in her blonde locks, urging her closer to me. She walks me backwards until we both fall onto the bed.

"Well...they're not yelling. That's a good sign right?" I ask no one in particular as I wait outside the hotel room with Tobin, Kelley, Hope, Allie and Krashlyn.
"Maybe one killed the other." Kelley mumbles, gaining a slap to the head from Ashlyn.
"Yeah but which one?" Tobin asks, playing along and only dropping it when I glare at her.
"Um, what are you all doing out here?" Syd questions while glancing at all of us as we wait in the hallway. She's with Sam, who looks equally confused.
